Description The other female Ranger of the group, it's the Blue Knight Ranger. I really enjoyed Hurricanger's twist on making the Blue Ranger a female, so as inspiration, I made my Blue Ranger for this series a female as well. She's very scrappy and is the first one of the group to jump into battle; she brash and tough and I feel there aren't enough 'strong' female Rangers. Her sub-weapon is a Halberd and her animal is the Griffin.

I'm playing with the idea of having her hobby being a mechanic or something similar. I like naming her 'Gwen', playing off of the idea of Lady Guinevere. Her background consists of losing her mother at a young age and being raised by a strict father and having a brother who went off to the become a Marine. With a strict environment, she becomes callous, but that slowly changes throughout the series. I like the idea of having her brother come back home and possibly becoming the sixth Ranger. I had a scenario where Gwen is knocked out and her brother uses her morpher to become the male version of the Blue Knight Ranger, so don't be too surprised if I make that happen.

Enjoy!

It's because sexist bastards come up with pansy females! haha!

Now this is a pretty bad a$$ pose. (I am totally nagging you about that other female pose!! haha!) The pose fits with how you want her personality. It's not dainty and it lends the strength of her personality with the pose.

That's so true, it's not even funny...damn, sexist bastards!

I'm glad you approve of Gwen. She's a rare feat as she's a strong character in a Power Ranger coating. And yes, I'll work on Yellow's pose. It sucks.

I agree making a female blue ranger is an idea that needs to be done more (especially when the yellow becomes male as well).

Her axe is very well designed and not one I've often seen given to a female character (as in they'd normally be given a smaller one).

Thanks! I really wanted a unique twist on a female ranger and after making up this team, I almost need to see this in true live-action format!

I thought the Halberd would be a different weapon to give a female and while it's not heavy, it'd take some skill to master.

When you say "see this in true live action format", how do you mean?

I do plan to give Snow an axe as her weapon (though I'm still planning the design and how big it is). I've never personally wielded a halberd so I can't comment but it sounds interesting.

Like hiring a cast and costume makers to actually see people inside of the Knight Ranger costumes. I think it could work personally.

Best of luck with Snow's weapon!

Ahh I see. That would be interesting to do. I sometimes wish I could make myself a "Gokai Orange" costume for cons and similar events.

Thanks. I view it as an axe/ice pick combination, as I revived an old OC, Theora, and merged some of her backstory with Snow's. Theora was an axe wielding thief (hence why Snow has one) and the ice pick is a nod to her roots as an Ice Demon.

Maybe I should doodle a Gokai Orange. I used to make a 'seventh ranger' custom for several sentai way back. I don't have the pictures anymore, but decided to work on my own custom sentai teams.

I was looking for info on your OCs, and couldn't find too much about them. I feel your OCs are interesting with a deep mythos.

How many custom sentai did you come up with? Maybe you could revive them to make up some type of "Legends Crossover Team" like they've done for both Sentai and Power Rangers. And if you want to draw him, feel free. I hadn't really thought much about him, other than it's a sentai in my favourite colour.

To be fair, pawcanada is my second account. I did create another one many-a-moon ago and spent a lot of 2008 working on my art and characters. It did take a direction I regret now (even though I may be steering pawcanada down a similar path, though hopefully more tasteful). I'm not sure how much I delved into their backstory back then though. Most of it exists in either the sprite form or in my head as I've just not been able to do much with them.

The ones I made (besides the Mammals and Knights) were:

-White Zeo Ranger
-White Blizzard Ninja Storm Ranger
-Navy Blue Spino Dino Thunder Ranger
-Black SPD Ranger
-Silver Metal Mystic Force Ranger
-Orange Jungle Fury Ranger

I might revisit them sometime. Who knows.

I was always curious is there a meaning behind pawcanada? At first, I thought you were Canada (way back when you first started commenting on my work). Just curious.

I think you should; like I suggested, I think maybe make up a team made of the "Rangers that missed the call" or something.

On a related tangent, I also read about these guys a few days ago - [link] . As this team contains some unique colours, they seemed interesting to me.

pawcanada is my initials and where I was born. I have lived in England for most of my life but I do have Canadian citizenship and thus dual nationality. I'm guessing toonartist is the kind of art style you wish to focus on/dream you one day want to achieve (i.e. become a full time toon artist)?

I'll see what happens. I'm trying to work on other non-Sentai concepts I have with some Sentai. I'm currently working on Donatello, but just like Michelangelo, he's proving to be a bit of a pain.

I do remember seeing the female ninjas a while back. I think Sentai needs more twists like that IMO.

So I was right in a way! That's a unique dual citizenship you have. The only thing I can mention about it that it's a bit similar is I was born in the southern half of the US and currently living in the northern half. Speech is definitely something that was a bit difficult to adapt to but not as bad as Canada to England, I'm sure. Toon Artist is a name I gave myself, seeing as I'm an artist (obvious) and my first inspirations as an artist came from car(toon)s. I used to watch a LOT of Looney Tunes, Disney and Hanna-Barbara as a kid. I also was fascinated by Maximillion Pegasus from Yu-Gi-Oh and loved his Toon monsters.

Fair enough; I am keen to see how Donny turns out

They caught my eye due to their unique colours. As mentioned before, I wish they'd use them more often.

I'm afraid I don't know much about the differences between the north and the south of America. Having said that, there is no "British accent" like people think, but rather the dialect/speaking pattern of where you come from - one of my friends is from London and does naturally have the cockney accent that people think of, while I've moved around a lot so mine is more amalgamated with hints of a more farmer side. Thus I can imagine America being the same so I can imagine it can be odd and difficult.

To be fair, I've spent most of my life in England. I only lived in Canada for a few years and then a few more years in America (Arizona then Boston). I do wish I spent more time in Canada or Boston but hey hoo. And funnily enough I found out one of my work mate's housemates also has a British/Canadian citizenship.

Each 'side' of America has different dialect and terminology that is a bit weird to get used to when traveling back and forth. I've bounced around enough to have a pretty standard speak pattern, so I'm in the same boat with you. I don't really have many friends with extreme dialect, it's more in their activities. People in the northern states tend to love to hunt wild animals; I don't have any interest waking up at 4 am to wake outside to shoot something, but to each his own.

Wow! You've been bounced around quite a bit! I've lived in Missouri, Utah and currently my third time in Wisconsin. And that's pretty funny that you found another British/Canadian citizen!

pawcanada In reply to toonartist [2013-02-22 12:34:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know what you mean. And as for hunting, personally I've never cared for it as a sport. It's fine if you need it for food, clothing or self preservation (I loved the book Hatchet when I was a kid) but not for fun.

I've also lived in Lincolnshire which is in the north east side of England, Gloucestershire (where I am now) which is in the south west (near Bristol) and went to Uni in Plymouth which is on the south west coast of the country. Apparently some people can still hear an American twang in my voice which is surprising.

And it was surprising to hear that as well. Funny how things turn out at times I find.

toonartist In reply to pawcanada [2013-03-01 19:10:59 +0000 UTC]

I enjoyed the Hatchet way back and liked how realistic it was. Hunting is a HUGE sport in Northern US, and several people will ask off for work on opening day for hunting and just about everyone talks about how their 'hunts' were.

I'm not used to hearing the the term 'American twang' but I understand what you mean. On a bit of a random note, I took a few years of French and remember listening to French-Canadian dialect and I couldn't understand it at all and I was amazed at how different it was, considering both languages are considered French.

Sounds like you've been all over the place in England!

Where my mum lives is similar; apparently on boxing day the locals gather at a nearby field to fox hunt. I find the concept sickening but as I lack powers of some kind (a Lantern ring or Silrun's photokinesis would do nicely ) I can't really do anything.

Ironically I'm terrible at French. It was my lowest grade in school. I struggle with learning languages from a text book - ironic as I am a programmer - and only learn through using it.

And I suppose but there are many places I have yet to visit, like Liverpool and Manchester.

I was alright at French. I remember some of the audio tests were a bit of joke, like we were asked what a certain individual was saying and when they would get to the point of saying it, a semi truck would drive by in the clip and muffle what they would say. I can't so much formulate sentences in French rather I can read most of it and speak it well enough.

I've never been to Europe, and trust me, there's quite a few places I'd like to hit up there!

I can't remember my French exams to well, other than saying "Le.... English.....? Oh! Le Anglais!".

I've been to France twice (Paris and then a ski resort) and Andora (also for a snowboarding holiday) myself, but I tend to prefer America and Canada myself. As I spent a few years in Boston I'm always keen to go back.

I remember making sentences that would combine proper and improper words and it would drive my teacher nuts. I'd say things like "Hello, Mr. Dude!" or say things like "Je voudrais un stick of gum."

Even taking French, I was never too keen on visiting France. That's just me though. I do want to go to Europe, but I'd be more keen on Germany, Britain and Italy.

The first time I went to France, we went to some weird fast food place on two occasions. On the first I ordered something random off the menu and after a few mouthfuls of it, was applauded by whatever the Hell it was. A guy I shared a room with got food poisoning from it so the next time we went there I refuses the main menu and had to eat rabbit food. So much for the infamous wonders of French cooking :-P. To be fair that would be like basing American Apple Pie off something made with tear old rotten apples but still.

Italy is somewhere I want to visit myself some day, and maybe Greece.

Greece would be cool to go to as well.

Exactly, but I put it down to being the French version of McDonalds so I don't think it's fair to judge it.

And yeah; I'd love to see the ruins myself. Plus I'm keen to try Greek food.

That sounds like a funny skit with a pompous French cuisine chef working at a McDonalds, making typical burgers off of the menu.

I'm a huge exotic food guy. Anytime I can, I try and get the weirdest thing off of the menu. The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was foie gras. I don't know if you've ever had it but it's creamy yet very tangy. It's something else!

While I can't say I've heard of it, I'm not surprised that exists.

I'm similar myself. I grew up eating a lot of Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Italian food and in recent years have dabbled a little in Thai. However I do need to branch off into other areas. And no I can't say I have; what country is it from?

I was just thinking about a skit like that; I'm pretty sure something like that doesn't exist. Yet.

Foie Gras is a specialty from France if I'm not mistaken. It is fatty goose liver paste. And yes, I knew that going into eating it.

Were I currently reside, there are a few Thai restaurants that I've thought about hitting up to try their food. Where I used to live, they had an AMAZING Thai restaurant downtown.

The States are similar in those restaurant listings you mentioned. I live a bit in the middle of nowhere, so there are several small restaurants that I'm curious on what types of cuisine they have.

pawcanada In reply to toonartist [2013-05-07 12:46:49 +0000 UTC]

I love Thai food. There's an amazing Thai restaurant near me (my housemates then girlfriend wanted to go with me some time as I don't think he ate it; in hindsight I should have as she was stunning) and I cook it for myself from time to time.

A friend of mine is Scottish and he once made haggis for a bunch of us. Granted it was stuffed into chicken, which was then wrapped in bacon but I was able to taste the haggis and really liked it.

I've been living in a big city now for nearly three years but I've hardly hit the local restaurants. Part of it is my old friends whom rarely venture outside of the area they live in/I used to live in and I tend to hit the pubs rather than the restaurants with my more local friends. I'm hoping that will change soon though.

toonartist In reply to pawcanada [2013-05-21 15:16:27 +0000 UTC]

I'm curious on haggis. I know it is pretty much minced sheep intestines, but I'm willing to try anything at least once.

I still need to hang out with some of my new friends to know which restaurants to hit up where I now live. I've had some of them recommend some places, but I prefer it when I go to the place with them to know what to expect.

I wish you the best with that. I live near a town where just about every fifth building has a pub/bar, so several people I know always want to go the bar, so I understand where you're coming from.

pawcanada In reply to toonartist [2013-05-28 12:37:50 +0000 UTC]

I find it quite nice; quite spicey as well though which I wasn't expecting. My friend served it to us wrapped in bacon and then stuffed into chicken which made it even better. I also know of a chain of pasty restaurants that sometimes do a haggis pasty. That is usually VERY nice.

And I'm pretty much the same. I find it's all well and good recommending a restaurant to me but I find the experience much more enjoyable in a group.
