Well the pokedex does say "caught" even though you don't get catch them the most common way, like in eggs, evolution, trade. But I suppose little details like that would make pokemon game developers take much longer with these games.

Technically, you can "catch" one in the wild, but you need one of those "Gameshark" thingies, and I'm not one much for cheating at video games or putting in hacking codes.....
