This is some how perverse, and yet adorable. Feels very incorrect and at the same time is something we all knew. How do you manage to achieve that?

Very nice. It works on so many levels - Kinky enough to excite the fans, but innocent enough to be in character.

Here's what I can tell you, when we are young, we just watch whatever we want. Like Spongebob, we giggle and we don't care of what he said. BUT when we grow up and our languages & social behavior finally mature, we realize that those aren't funny anymore. Such as those live action, to me, I don't see the full humor of them and so does Spongebob. Spongebob is much worse though, as he's an adult with a childish soul.

I'm not too sure about that, but kids are just kids, Spongebob is a lot mature than that. Moreover, even if he is 13 years old for example, the way he laugh and say "I'm ready!" is just like a 4 to 7 year old kid would say. Now that is childish!

Well, it's not Spongebob's fault dopes in suites decide to bank it all on him.
I'm a little defensive to Spongebob because I actually used to really enjoy his show. He was actually one of the last decent cartoons out there for me but even now he's gotten lame

Me too, I like it at first, UNTIL when I share it with my friends, they did tell me the point that he's childish and I finally agree with them, no wonder why my teen & young adult friends don't like him and I followed them instead. That's why I'm now against him.

I actually like it BECAUSE it's childish. We need more things in the media telling children it's okay to be children. Maybe then they would understand it's okay to play with action figures again and not think all they have are Ipods and video games

You may like it, but in the real world, it's the real hate here. Because he's an ADULT with childish behavior, that's why people hates him. If he were a little boy (with parents characters) instead, we can understand. But when he's a single adult, you get the idea of why people hates him.
They thought he was funny, but unfortunately, those childish humor already snapped their sense of humor and shatters them completely, thus creates hate. I find him funny at first, but when I see his shows a few times later, I don't feel like it's getting funny anymore due to his continuous non-stop childish behavior.

Actually, I don't get why people hate him just because he's childish. Except for perhaps it's his childish behavior that people are mistaking as "gay." There should be nothing wrong with being childish.
I thought it stopped getting funny mainly because the writing started to suck. I can still laugh at a lot of the early stuff but the new episodes try too hard and I don't think have the original writers anymore. I know the creator left because he was told they were going to retire Spongebob and move onto other things but the told him they were going to make more so he got mad and left.

Forgot this one, my mention of the hatred that he's not "gay", it's not the gay that spawns our hatred, it's his super childish behavior. Obvious examples are his "Dai ya ya ya ya!", "I'm ready, I'm ready." & his constant crying.

Please be careful, you must understand and don't just say "I don't get it", it is obvious you can see why. Nothing wrong being childish is not a correct term (Correct but only 50%, even I as a young adult can also watch cartoons, that's childish but not too childish), Spongebob is too childish, he acts as a little boy when he's a full grown adult. Imagine in real life where a 35 or 50 year-old man no longer has his parents and then when someone else takes the last copy of a special limited edition comic book from the shelf, he cries "I wanna I wanna I wanna!", stomps his feet repeatedly and screams in front of the public. NOW THAT IS SUPER CHILDISH, SPONGEBOB IS SUPER CHILDISH!! Don't you see that?! You have to understand the feelings of SB haters, I didn't invite you to join us as the haters of SB, but I want you to understand the real meaning behind our hatred.
And moreover, yes, as Spongebob ages for many seasons, the creation of creative ideas are beginning to go dim and not very bright anymore, because writers cannot recycle old ideas to make new ones, otherwise fans will find this repeatable and not fun. Just like we see the modern cartoons today, many of them are not bright anymore because the old days has used up SO MANY of the good creative ideas and the existing writers can't create new ones, because it's their jobs on the line too, they don't want to create parodies out from an old show. Imagine a new "Tom & Jerry" cartoon is created but features a bulldog & a smart little kitten and they hate each other like Tom & Jerry do. That's not creative, isn't it?

In reality, yeah. Being as childish as Spongebob isn't a good idea but he IS a cartoon character and thus his childish behavior is going to be exaggerated for the sake of being funny. A the same time though, I have often felt how Spongebob behaves. I think that's why he works.

I give you that. Seeing him everywhere DOES get annoying.
Parents aren't forced to buy their kids anything just because they cry and whine. Parents today just have no patience. When my parents said no, it was NO! (and I came from the 80s. When nearly every cartoon was a 20 minute toy ad XD)

What I mean about the kids can cry is IF they want the SB toy, and when the parent says no, if they cry, the parent will buy it in order to soothe down the kid's crying unless if they want and to bear with the crying all day long.
