The gryphon is one of Wu's unique creation (or some other company's creation) alongside the dragon, the gryphons was an later project in cloning animals from the cenozoic era but adding that adding a bit of dragon dna for that hexapod biology and adding some other animals such as:

Kelenkan (and other terror birds species)
American Lion (alter)
Argentavis
Great Horn Owl
Monotreme animals such as Platypus and Echidna
