very glad that you liked it so much... I was a beginner too some six years ago... you can try some art school or join an art instructor, and regularly practice, and in one year, I am sure you would see notable difference...please, you can start working towards, if you have the time and affordability... and I am pleased by your comment

Wow! I wish I could draw like you. I have a very vivid imagination- but when I try to draw what I see it turns out like crap. Darn. I'll just live vicariously through you.

Thanks for the advice I'm going to stick to photos right now (still learning about my camera). I do love art though- so maybe someday I will take a class.

cool... teach me some composition principles some time... i cant compose pictures properly and very bad at framing the subject with a cam... ha ha ha...

firecracker1326 In reply to toonrama [2007-06-26 06:41:14 +0000 UTC]

I don't know any of the composition rules yet- but when I learn I'll let you know. I think art is about enjoying yourself though- so who cares about rules anyways?

yeah.. you are very right... no rules is the rule.. ha ha ha... it is only the taste that matters...

i wont lie.... but this work could have been better,... the background is really blurred... it can use some detail.. the whole work is so soft on detail.. how come? u guys are maestros at details.. still.... i wont lie.. this work looks nothing like any of you guys....

i hope u wont mind, but this is my honest opinion... i respect ur art and so i respect honesty.

I welcome your opinion...I hope Venkat's final output will be impressive. He didnt upload it in his gallery yet as he is still working on it...I was too tempted to post it... As and how he develops I wil update this... I understand your honest comment, Bobby!. For now this is what i can say.

exactly... You are right. . I see a new challenge in it...and that's how we evolve. I take it like 'if you think it is done... No! It is just a beginning at any stage.' And also I remember 'Art is never complete. It is only abandoned,' as told by some great master.

man... i really wanted to know.. coz im a self taught and i usually draw on anything and with anything.. so maybe u can tell me exactly what kind of paper to go for and what pencils... especially enlighten me with erasers... im stuck with stupid natraj erasers.... are there any special erasers available in india?

sanpaiya In reply to LensNation [2007-04-19 16:44:35 +0000 UTC]

hey bobby.. u'll get some real good paper.. with diff textures... pin point is good... then there are papers made esp for pencils.. they have checkered textures.. if u want a rough texture try hand made sheets.. generally used for water colours but u can try pencil on it..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LensNation In reply to sanpaiya [2007-04-19 17:36:14 +0000 UTC]

on the contrary i want some paper with smooth finishing... and which is pencil friendly at the same time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sanpaiya In reply to LensNation [2007-04-19 18:51:06 +0000 UTC]

hmmm... normal cartridge sheet will b good for your style i guess.. i used to love them.. but it is hard to find good quality ones these days . and i love the smooth yet a subtle texture of normal photo copier paper

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LensNation In reply to sanpaiya [2007-04-20 01:39:21 +0000 UTC]

normal papers work really well.. if its a lineart i want to do, i simply go for power papers.... the ones they use in xerox machines... the only problem with this paper is that its too thin for a proper portrait

sanpaiya In reply to LensNation [2007-04-20 06:38:05 +0000 UTC]

yea, but i love the way the pencils flow on them.. btw what pencils do u use ??

Yeah! Erasers... one more eraser just struck to my mind... It is called Putty(pronounced. patti) or it is also called kneadable eraser or clean up eraser... it is like clay... a bit costly some 80 bucks...the brand my friend suggest for this is 'derwent' and 'kohinoor.' Buy this also... it wil help you clean lines without dust.
