Description
First of all; I don't really like watching Scooby-Doo. But I kinda like the premise of the show, some kinda interesting ideas can pop up and I love the idea of re-designing them, modernising them, edit them etc. No idea why.
I would also LOVE to change their personalities BIG time - you can only go so far with one-dimensional characters.
Anyhoo, here we have the gang as I like to draw them:
Velma Dinkley, Fred Jones, Scooby-Doo, Daphne Blake and Shaggy Rogers.

I've had this in my favorites for a while, I think, but I never commented for some reason? These are super cool and really inspiring; I'm having a lot of fun reimagining/modernizing the Scooby gang for a project I have in mind but I'm still a little stuck on their original portrayals. Here, the characters are still recognizable, but they're much more dynamic. And you're right- they have been very one-dimensional for a long time. You're thinking way outside the original box, and that's something I'd like to be able to do at some point
Sorry, rambling; point is: wonderful picture. Your redesigns are thoughtful and creative and your art style is real nifty. I like them all, but I think Daphne might be my favorite here..

What does Shaggy's necklace look like? It seems to blend in with the undershirt.
My favorite would have to be Velma's though; I love her top ^^

It was some kind of tooth... Mainly because I didn't sit down to think up something more clever, so I just gave it a quick backstory of being Scoobys first puppy-tooth. But I might change it.

Great redesign. Really in keeping with the original show. I used to love Scooby-Doo as a kid but it's one of the shows I can't go back to so it's not high up on my list of favourite Hanna-Barbera shows. I blame Scrappy Doo.

I never really had that tight a relationship to Scooby Doo... I never really liked the animation, it almost freaked me out, but it still holds that nostalgic value, and I still see plenty potential in it.

Ironically you seem to have little to decry with Velma other than her being one-dimensional but she is in a way the most insulting in origin to her gender character; they designed her to be plain because it was unrealistic at the time for a female character to be both pretty and smart...which might explain partially why Daphne is such a ditz; she's the pretty one so she has to be less intelligent to balance out...as much as I love classic Scooby Doo, that rankles a bit.

It's a good point you bring up, and I have to admit I never really took much offence with Velma. Probably because I never thought about it like that - Daphne always annoyed me more, because she was pretty but seemed pretty useless, which I really never cared for. She could easily have become an independent and smart young woman, yet she was just turned into a ditzy damsel-in.distress. Velma not being pretty never really stroke me as offensive because... I do find her actually kinda pretty - and she is clever which is always good.
But now that you mention it, I can see what you mean. I still don't have much against what they did with her, because at least, she was still smart.

They were in desperate need of a redesign of some sorts.
You gave them the most coolest outfits to wear - without losing their original design.

The guy is a Great Dane. One of my all-time favourite dogs, so I HAD to do something with him... I might play a bit more with his design, and lose some of the stoic GD-traits, as Scooby WAS designed to be a less appealing version of the race.
And Daphne... I do like how she turned out here, a LOT, but I still need to figure out her personality, before I can be 100% happy with her looks. I'm afraid she comes out too preppy and ditzy in this, and I'm not sure I like that.

Flat indeed! And SO one-dimensional! I mean, imagine starting from scraps, re-designing the character and their personalities, giving them actual likeable personalities... It coudl be done, and it would make the show SO much more interesting!

Probably the creators were sure giving more details to charas' images would be odd and could disturb to get into the scenario. But dude, WHAT actually needs so much attention there if it's so predictable?))) At least nowadays it seems to be in need of more details, so I I really admire your version))
