Started re-reading and things are making more sense! ...Still confused about the guppy in the sky on the first chapter, though. (Makes me think of a Biblical thing from... Ezekiel I think, but I'm not 100% sure that's what it's supposed to be.)

I find it really amusing how much Gear looks like a Neverhood character. It shows Doug really uses all his ideas really smartly. Old or new.

It's part of his style. He uses the noodle-shaped head in a lot of his hero characters. Earthworm Jim, Klaymen, Gear, Willie, Meatus all share it. I love it, it's so unique and cartoony. You don't see many characters that look like that that aren't his.
