Cool, I just buy silver in general but the collector in me demands I try and find good condition coins.

Got a few silver German marks and more recently a Japanese silver 50 Sen.
These are my most valuable coins though.

Oohh cool that would be a awesome dime to have. I'm more or less buying silver coins just to buy silver. But the collector in me wants coins in good condition. So I tend to look through the containers of coins at the coin exchange, and pick out ones in good shape when I buy them. XD

That's cool.

I just wish I began sooner, like buying gold coins when they were $300 a ounce.

Any dime, quarter or half dollar before 1965 should be 90% silver. So keep a eye out.

Oooo I was collecting coins for a while. I still would be if I wasn't in college X_X. I got a near complete collection of Barber quarters... there not in that great of condition but still worth a good amount. One of them is worth a lot though. I've never found any silver coins in my change, I think it's all been cleared out.

Oohh Barbers are nice ones, my primary goal was to just get silver but the coin collector in me couldn't resist being like, "OOHHH A BARBER!" when I was looking through the pile of old coins. XD

In getting change, I only found a 1953 dime so far.

Cool.
All I have are
3 Mercury dimes 1939, 1923, 1942
14 wheat pennies
1 1890 indian head wheat penny ranging between 1941-1958
1 1971 half dollar
1 1971 Silver Dollar

Tora044 In reply to ArcanumTwilight [2012-02-08 04:56:32 +0000 UTC]

I got lots of wheat pennies, copper, steel and lead. And a couple Indian heads.

The 1971 half dollar is nickle clad, though does the 1971 Silver Dollar have a S mark? If so then it's 80% silver. If not then it's nickle clad as well.

...You... Suck... XD nice little silver collection you've got there man, you ever go to the bank and buy rolls of coins looking for silver? I hear that's pretty good to do, and then just take the coins that aren't silver back.

But hopefully I'll dig this much up with my metal detector this coming Spring. XD

lol I need to start doing it, I've seen people find rolls of mostly silver coins haha, all I've got so far though are a few silver dimes and quarters that I got as change, not much OH and 2 Walking Liberties

Bleh been luckier than I have. Granted I just got this metal detector recently and it's a pretty amateurish one. The best thing I found was a wheat penny, and a toy firetruck made in China.

Going to get a better one which is just $100 more than I payed for my current one.

lol I used to have a better one, but don't know what happened to it lol a toy firetruck? nice, if I ever get another metal detector, I'm certainly gonna go around town with it, probably find some bullets (Civil War battles)

Oh your lucky, you live in the east coast, alot more to be found there. I live in the Panhandle of Texas. Though I seriously hope to find a Great Depression era "Jar-o-coins" quite a few have been found in this area actually. I have one place in mind just a few blocks from where I live. Just gotta get permission from the landowner first.
