My first entry for “Let’s Draw Sherlock!”

This month’s theme is to recreate a favorite movie scene with the Sherlock characters, and I chose one from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

So, for those who haven’t seen the film (I highly recommend you go see it though!), it’s about an eccentric pirate captain named Jack Sparrow. He arrives to the town of Port Royale in order to acquire a ship and a crew to go on piratey adventures. Well, in town there are two childhood sweethearts/love birds: Will Turner, the blacksmith, and Elizabeth Swan, the Governor’s daughter. The town gets pillaged and plundered by a band of pirates -after Jack Sparrow gets thrown in jail, since piracy is illegal- and they kidnap Elizabeth. Will tries to save her but alas, doesn’t make it in time. In order to go after the pirates and rescue Elizabeth, Will springs Jack from his cell. There, Jack concocts a brilliant, but mad, plan to covertly steal a ship about to set sail.

Enter this scene: Jack (as Sherlock here) deduces that they (him and Will, who’s John here) should take a boat and literally walk below on sea level, to avoid anyone who may happen to see them approaching the ship (and arrest them, since Jack’s doubly wanted, and Will’s now wanted, too). I guess, scientifically, if you plunge a vessel into water just so, it creates an air pocket, and thus allows one an air reserve whilst underwater.

The drawing itself quite challenged me, but I’m so happy I finished it and, furthermore, submitted the thing within the project’s timeline~ I also adjusted the dialogue of the scene so it’s more Sherlock-y. :]
I think Sherlock looks great with the eyeliner, but I couldn’t imagine him with Jack Sparrow’s crazy dreads (I think Sherlock’s pretty immaculate when it comes to his appearance) so he doesn’t have them here. Also, I couldn’t think of him putting numerous beads and skeleton pieces (well, maybe he would with skeleton pieces) in his hair, so I just have the one beaded strand here (with a simple version of his magnifying lens at the end). I thought the facial hair was good to add though. ;] And then John has some facial hair and a pony tail. I’m pleased with how turned out~
