Description
The monument, known as 'Chwała Saperom' (Glory to the Sappers), is a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the sappers who worked tirelessly after World War II to clear Poland of mines and unexploded ordnance.

During the operation of clearing the country's territory of mines, ammunition, unexploded ordnance, and other dangerous objects between 1945-1956, 627 soldiers lost their lives and 674 were injured.

Between 1945-1956, a total of 14,763,514 mines of various types and 58,805,852 explosive and dangerous objects (ammunition, unexploded ordnance, explosive charges, etc.) were detected and destroyed.
