And here it is – the coloured version of my latest take at depicting Beren and Lúthien from the Silmarillion. Yes of course it's green. Because of course the whole background is heavily inspired by the cover of Summoning's Oath Bound album (and by a photo taken by my dad in Norway). Guess what I listened to while painting – again. For some reason most of my colour schemes for Silmarillion fanart look like taken straight from the album cover…I should paint more elaborate backgrounds. Now that I've done so many mountains, probably something else…

I really love it, it looks as if their relationship is really stronger than death. And I am glad to see that you draw Beren with beard - it seems to me guite strange if he would shave somewhere in forest. And why all seem to suppose that man with beard is less attractive?
And they both are very attractive here

I agree, I doubt that Beren had a shaving knife around in the forest. Not to speak of a mirror 
I didn’t even aim to make him look attractive here, I just seem to be incapble of drawing not-attractive people
I don’t know what about other people, but I just think that beards are horrible if you want to kiss that person. I don’t know what Lúthien thinks about that, either, but either she doesn’t mind, or she’ll teach Beren how to shave clean

That's a good point with kissing men with beards . But I guess Lúthien doesn't mind. I must confess I can't imagine Beren without beards - although main job is usually made by Lúthien in the story, Beren is still supposed to be great warrior and hero. For me, it's hard to believe that someone who was going in forest for four years and fought with orcs alone looks like a teenager

A beautiful depiction of these two characters and an emotional (and often forgotten) moment of their story. I love especially how you depicted Beren, he looks very close to my own imagination. And also the background, the mountains look quite realistic as some northern mountain range, while the greenish colour of the bakcground makes it look a bit dreamlike.
I also like the interesting composition, the picture look so very dynamic, although they are just standing and holding each other. Which is certainly appropriate given the context of the story.

Hello ! I just stumbled on this and it's amazing. Your mountain is cool, it's different from the usual pointy peaks in the distance and looks more real. I'm very conflicted about Luthien... the hair is /great/ , so is the dress, though I don't know about the very high slit. best thing, though, is beren, I think it's the best depiction of him I've ever seen

I don't know about Lúthien’s dress myself, but as she’s the princess of a timeless society of ageless, elegant beings, I figured I might I get away with something vaguely medieval mixed with modern cuts
And as for Beren, I'm always surprised when he looks dashing and like coming straight out of a hot bath with soap. I mean, come on, he spent quite some time alone in a forest before he met Lúthien. So I wnated him to look more worn out, while still atrractive enough, so that he won’t scare off the elf lady

absolutely breath-taking! I love your interpretation of Beren & Luthien (It's one of the best I've seen)! I'm vey impressed how you were able to make the piece dynamic, even though the characters are standing still (gotta love diagonal compositions). Amazing work!

I don't like static pictures most of the time, so even if I draw people standing still, I make at least their hair and cloth move in the wind or something like that. Of course, composition and angle can help, too. I'm glad this works! Thanks!
