Description Class: BattleCON
*** Updated - Front view added.

The term BattleCon is the joining of two words commonly not associated with each other:
Battleship and Convoy

What we have is essentially the idea of what would normally be fleets of ships merged into one massive or long ship. A long story how the first one was build, and even more mystery if it was a accident or intention.

Needless to say the result was a flying world with multiple cities, bio-domes, and massive fabrication industrial complexes. The class of ship is beyond any most other races could begin to build or support. Although the ship is self supporting, bringing all it needs for any duty it is put to, few will realize its total multi-purpose ability.

This is not just a combat ship, which it can fullfill the role beyond anything out there currently, but really what the Altronians live on. They view planets as dangerous, places to visit, but not stay. They actually feel when a race gets mature enough it needs to leave the world they grew up on behind, let it resume its natural order. That most races die before they can leave the crib, that they often poison their own world before they learn this lesson. To put it mildly the BattleCon reflects their mentality of higher tech life.

Although one can say they cheat a little by having bio domes and habitat rings, bringing much of the world life with them. They would say this is still preferable to staying on a planet.

They litterally have cities all along its length, and the interior is often confusing, like walking a tessaract. It is bigger on the inside then it is on the out side as well, diplaced dimensionally. One door is not anchored to just one exit point, often you can program 'favorites' into a door allowing fast access to many things or places.

The fire power of a BattleCon has RARELY been seen. There is one report that while the Altronians were in a military action a BattleCon at the edge of a solar system opened up all its guns and looked to be a new Star/sun for all intent and purposes. The population of the system was up and until then unaware there was a BattleCon in the area, as often they are unseen even by the best sensors unless they want to be seen. (Not a easy task considering their size.)

Any BattleCon operation in any space is often surounded with fleets and fleets of what is smallerships, but still massive compared to other races.

There is one famous recording of a human outpost asking how the BattleCon was able to evade their radar, when the Altronians replied they have not entered radar space of the human yet, that it might be a hour or more, the humans realized not only how large the craft was, but that the ships around it they assumed were fighter escorts were larger then anything they currently know of...

Some of these ships are doing military training, which they do all the time, inspections, or even just trade between worlds. (Odd considering they can just do matter transport, it might be they feel it uses less energy and is wiser. And with a imortal race time is not a major worry.)

Altronians are a ellusive race, rarely interacting with others, openly at least, and it might be they feel their technology level does need to be earned, learned, and gotten use to before they feel ok about sharing. This belief has not stopped them all the time, they do not have a open law or rule about the 'prime directive' but it would be safe to say in a way they do.

It has been said if you see one BattleCon not cloaked, expect 3-4 cloaked ones to be in the area ... at least...

Anything a Altronian does has hidden meanings, often they are trying to teach others, giving hints, or at least looking out for the younger races in the most detached way they can.

But it is easy to say the design of a BattleCon if better understood would make it easier to understand the Altronians.

How many people live in this gigantic ship?

Well they can actually be UN MANNED.
That is a AI network running everything, including hologram crew, cybernet environment....
There are a couple where only one or two people are on board...

But the number is in the billions on average. It litterally is what the Altronians live on. The consider planets as weekend getaway places at best, good to visit, and yet leave untouched.

Since most of the ship is really a 4 dimensionally displaced hypercube, there really is no limit to the number who could live on it. Imagine DOOR TO DOOR Tardis with weird instant linkages all over to any section. And pretty much every BattleCON is connected dimensionally, you could turn a alley and end up in a wholy different BattleCON.... Or different section. The ship constantly sends a empathic if not telepathic update where you are and how to get to another section easier. Oddly enough, they still have a Highway track big enough for Star Destroyes could run along in a long loop along its entire length....

When Humans discover the ease of just the gate-doors, they wonder why the Highway.... To which the Altronians kinda shrug and say "Why not?" confusing the humans.
The ship does not use thrust as we know it to move, yet has thrusters. (Some humans think Altronians are either great commedians or just insane.)

Redunancy is the answer, and lots of it.

Never mind, did not leave as a download....
I have a closer up view of ths ship compares in the same galery.
As to the sections and their names map area.. Well I may ad that in a better render in a bit.

This is one of those that when you do print you want to do poster size.

Nice line work. Attractive linewidth variation and kinds of fun, chewy data crammed in here.

When I first came up with the ship idea was just before Empire Strikes back.... And I am still toying with the look.

You still have a image of a Heavy Cruiser from FIghting Ships?
Looks a little like a Rebel Blockade runner, only rounder and sleeker? Also seems to have a spinal mount gun. I assume you were the artist for it...
It seems I misplaced my book, time to hit Shinders...

This really is a repost of the earlier image but I added more.

Also I added for size the 50 Kiloton nuke for compare.
Not as big as I thought it might be....

Also still not done. Doing aft and close ups next.
