Description Photo by Deathcom.net Here is a better view of the tail and strapping on the back. Too bad the backdrop matched and the lighting over powered my LEDs and EL: wire :/

Finally finished my Zekrom in the nick of time for Youmacon 2012, after over 2 years of WIP. I'm so glad he was well recieved. I won 1st place Journeyman craftsmanship, and had a blast stomping around detroit in suit. After the masquerade I even rode the People Mover (tram) back to Greektown and busted through Fishbones(fancy restaurant) to get back to my hotel room. LOL! It was so much fun. MUCH thanks to all my entourage who helped me finish my costume 10 minutes before judging, including More video and professional pics to come.

Great photo by my friend, at the Renaissance Center in Detroit with Canada across the river.

Fullbody mascot suit

These are great> I am wondering, even though this will sound dumb probably.... I'm trying to build a Palkia for my son to wear as Halloween is his birthday as well and that's what he chose this year... I am curious as to a good way to build wings. I was planning to build the understruture out of foam because he's a semi small kid and want something light weight. What is a good way to affix wings to a suit, or, are they best done as a seperate structure with some kind of straps/ harness? Thanks!

Wings are best supported on a harness of sorts. I used a backpack that was striped down to the straps and back panel, with a chest strap. Β I used EVA foam floor tiles for these wings. its light and easy to carve and could simply be painted or covered in a sleeve of fabric. They are glued to the backpack as well as braced with an L shaped bracket for stability. Β You probably wouldnt need to be as secure if yours would be smaller but the general idea should work well.Β

Never heard of EVA foam but I'll look for it. Someone also suggested a foam camping mat but some of those can be pretty thin. I'll sure give your strap suggestions a try! I appreciate it. Do you find it difficult to make resin eyes or do you just get em from someone? I've had lousy luck with casting even though I measure carefully and follow the directions... still get bubbles and sometimes the resin doesn't cure. Want very much to learn to do lights for eyes but I am electronics dumb.

the floor tiles can be purchased in the hardware section at most general stores. Comes in 2'x2' puzzle pieces and is about 1/2" thick. Β Looks like this www.target.com/p/comfort-foam-…
Β or in rainbow colors in the kids toy section.Β
I love making my own resin eyes. Β I use clearcast resin from hobby lobby and a paint pallet from a mold. Β mix 1:1 ratio and wait a day and they turn out great. The measurements need to be pretty precise and avoid moisture at all costs. Β To remove bubbles let the bottles heat in a warm tub of water and hit the final mixture with a hot hairdryer to pop the pesky little ones that remain. Simple circuits aren't too complicated, but if you want to avoid any wiring the Dollar tree has little battery pack LED lights that work great as well.Β

Zekrom has a pattern with two dark shades of grey/ black but the fabric didn't come in the dark grey color so this is the closest I could get.Β

Can you maybe list all the materials used and process of making this cosplay? I am thinking of making one myself. Also, how much did it all cost?

I love it. This is a great suit. I kinda want to try to make a Reshiram to rival it. But I already have more costume ideas than I have the budget or time for. XD

Why, thank you! Some years in the future I'd like to make a final version of my Blaziken costume. I learned a lot from this last incarnation of it.
