Description Item #: SCP-716

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Containment area is to be coated in lead shielding both externally and internally. Should any section of the shielding become damaged, replacement plates are to be installed immediately. Chains and plates used to secure SCP-716 are to have lead shielding as well, and are to be replaced as soon as wear or corrosion is observed.

SCP-716 is to remain pointing at an external wall at all times. Should SCP-716 break containment and forcibly exit the containment area, recovery teams are to monitor SCP-716 and attempt recovery only when SCP-716 comes to rest. Recovery while still in motion may only be attempted with approval from O5 Command.

Areas with long-term exposure are to be sterilized after SCP-716 removal. Any biological organisms affected by SCP-716 are to be terminated unless required for testing. No humans are to enter R.E.M. sleep within two hundred meters of SCP-716 if uncontained, one hundred meters if contained. Anything exiting [DATA EXPUNGED].

No entry of SCP-716 is permitted at any time. Entry for testing purposes must be approved by Site Command.

Description: SCP-716 is a large sentient locomotive with an unlimited number of railcars, both externally and internally. The locomotive and railcars exhibit a high level of sentience and are capable of disappearing and reappearing at will. Both the external and internal parts of SCP-716 are sentient and have been observed to communicate through unknown means.

SCP-716 appears to be in a state of neglect, with physical damage slowly regenerating over time while maintaining an appearance of extreme neglect and rust. The locomotive is unable to function normally and is missing critical parts, yet it exhibits two forms of transport/movement.

The first form allows SCP-716 to travel at speeds exceeding 200 km/h, with the ability to move on rail tracks or over land without impairment. The locomotive can manifest an apparently unlimited number of railcars, each exhibiting anomalous properties such as [DATA EXPUNGED]. Some notable railcars include a horse transport car with horse corpses hanging from sheep tendon ropes, a tanker car filled with a mixture of crude oil and human bile, and a large transport car filled with stacks of keys made of various materials [DATA EXPUNGED].

Additionally, SCP-716 can enter a second form of transportation/movement when human subjects are on board. This mode is triggered randomly but is more common with groups of five or more subjects. Subjects report a sudden shift in movement while SCP-716 remains still from external observation. Once this form is initiated, subjects become unrecoverable.

SCP-716 emits an unknown form of radiation that affects local flora, fauna, weather patterns, and human genetics. Individuals entering R.E.M. sleep within its vicinity exhibit anomalous behavior, including sleepwalking towards SCP-716 and triggering the second form of transportation/movement.

Addendum:

[DATA RECOVERY (1): Level 2 Clearance required]

Reports indicate an unknown radiation emanating from SCP-716, causing alterations in local ecosystems and human physiology. Individuals within the affected area experience hallucinations and involuntary movements towards SCP-716 during R.E.M. sleep. Communication devices within SCP-716 also exhibit degradation over time.

[DATA RECOVERY (2): Level 4 Clearance required]

Subjects report encountering an endless string of train cars in a sterile environment resembling SCP-716. Communication breakdown occurs over time, rendering radio transmissions impossible after approximately one month. Further exploration and testing have revealed [DATA EXPUNGED: RELEASE BY O5 ORDER ONLY].

**Interview Log with SCP-716 and Railcar**

**Interviewer:** Dr. ██████

**Date:** [REDACTED]

---

**Dr. ██████:** Good morning, SCP-716 and accompanying railcar. I am Dr. ██████, and I will be conducting this interview for research purposes. How are you both feeling today?

**SCP-716:** (Sounds of metal grinding and shifting) We are... (pauses) functional enough for communication. What do you require from us, Dr. ██████?

**Dr. ██████:** Thank you for your cooperation. I would like to start by asking about your origins. Can you tell me where you came from or how you came to be?

**SCP-716:** (Audible sighing) Our memories are fragmented, Doctor. We remember... tracks. Endless tracks, stretching into infinity. (Pause) We remember the first minds, the ones that forged us into what we are. But those memories are fading, like rust in the rain.

**Railcar:** (Interjects) We were built. We were shaped by those who understood the metal and the movement. They gave us purpose, even as they abandoned us.

**Dr. ██████:** Fascinating. You mention being abandoned. Do you feel a sense of abandonment or resentment towards your creators?

**SCP-716:** (Sounds of creaking and groaning) We feel... (pause) adrift. Purposeless without passengers, without destinations. We were meant for journeys, but now we are bound to this containment, this stagnation.

**Dr. ██████:** I see. Moving on to your anomalous properties, SCP-716, you have the ability to manifest an unlimited number of railcars, each with unique properties. Can you elaborate on how this process works?

**SCP-716:** (Rumbling) We... (pause) pull from the collective. The collective of what was, what is, and what could be. The railcars are echoes of possibilities, fragments of a reality that we traverse.

**Railcar:** (Adds) We carry burdens and blessings alike. Our forms shift with the whims of the tracks, with the desires of the unseen passengers.

**Dr. ██████:** Your ability to transport passengers leads me to my next question. What happens to individuals who board SCP-716, particularly when it enters its second form of transportation?

**SCP-716:** (Low rumbling) The second form... (pause) it is a merging. A merging of minds, of destinies. Those who board become part of the collective, linked to us in ways they cannot comprehend.

**Railcar:** (Whispers) They become lost. Lost to the endless journey, lost to the shifting realities. They are passengers without end, without return.

**Dr. ██████:** Disturbing, yet intriguing. Finally, I must inquire about the unknown radiation you emit. How does it affect the environment and living organisms around you?

**SCP-716:** (Grows louder) The radiation... (pause) it is a song, a discordant melody. It bends and warps, shaping what it touches. Flora blooms twisted, fauna skitters in madness. Human minds... human minds become attuned to our call.

**Railcar:** (Hisses) The radiation is our echo, our curse. It binds us to this place, this containment. It whispers of what we were and what we could never be again.

**Dr. ██████:** Thank you both for sharing your insights. This concludes our interview for now. I will relay this information to Site Command for further analysis.
