Story:
“Oh, hey Levi, getting ready for halter?” Drayton spoke up as he noticed Levi in the stall grooming Huckleberry while he helped Kacey groom Rocky.
“Hey Levi!” Kacey added when she looked up from Rocky. “Excited for the show?”
“Hi, yes, Huckleberry and I are definitely ready for this show.” he responded to Kacey before looking at Drayton; “Yeah, I have us entered in most of the classes, how about you guys?”
“I’ve got Rocky here, entered in all but one class.” Kacey replied to Levi as she continued to get Rocky ready. Kacey had already used four different brushes, and combed out his mane and tail twice, though is still cleaning him up - gotta get every speck of dust. “Drayton was going to enter halter with me but he decided to pull Drifter out and only enter him in reining and barrels. To be quite fair, I’d also pick barrels and reining over halter.” Kacey added as she walked over to Drayton wrapping her arms around him and setting down the brushes.
“Yeah, I did sign Drifter up for halter, but figured I’d just save him for our other classes.” Drayton added to what Kacey said as he kissed her gently on the forehead.
“Totally understand that! Huckleberry is only six and I want him pretty well rounded so I tend to enter him in several classes at each show.” Levi replied explaining why he was entered in most of them. “ Well, I’ll leave you guys to it, best of luck to you Kacey!”
“Thanks, and you too!” Kacey and Drayton both replied in unison.
After talking with Levi, Kacey finished polishing Rocky up, cleaned up his legs, hooves, wiped down his show halter, and finished brushing out his mane and tail one last time before the class. “I’m pretty excited to see how Rocky and I do today.” Kacey spoke to Drayton, clearly excited to get to show rocky. “I know he's gonna give his whole heart.”
“I’m sure you two will do great out there!” Drayton replied, encouraging them; “You two have worked hard, and now it’s time to show what you’ve got!”
“Yeah, I agree. We’ve worked hard, and no matter what we are here to have fun and enjoy!” Kacey added as she placed the show halter on Rocky and led him out of the stall towards the show ring.
“Yup and by the way, black does look pretty good on him, just like purple looks great on you!” Drayton smirked, looking Kacey up and down. “You look good, both of you, and I’m wishing you both the best of luck out there.” Drayton added as he leaned over and gave Kacey another kiss before they went into the ring.
Kacey lined Rocky up to the cone, squared him up, and watched the judge. After she got the nod to go ahead, she stretched up straight, clucked to Rocky, and started to walk off to the second cone. From there they jogged off to the wall to set up for their final inspection. After being inspected, the judge asked for everyone to leave the ring so they could continue the show. When Kacey led Rocky out, Drayton was right there to greet them while congratulating her and Rocky on how well they performed in the ring.
