there is also animals in the pokemon cards and Β there is even pokemon entries talking about animals. Mongoose must be very deadly in the pokemon universe if pokemon snakes fear them. You have to wonder how pokemon effect on animals.Β

It's worth noting that all of these were from the first season, back when the creators of the series were still in "experimental mode", trying to figure out what worked in the world they'd created. Obviously they eventually decided that real animals just don't belong in the Pokemon world, which is why you don't see them anymore.

I can explain this, it is more logical to have animals, but the creators will not admit it, if pokemon really were like animals, then they would have little intelligence, that could also eat each other until even humans, in pokemon world there are humans and plants, it is logical that there are also animals, besides the edible flesh shown, that something horrible series pokemon are also eaten (Although you can not say the same for Magikarp and Farchet `d) one example, Pikachu is Known as the "Mouse PokΓ©mon" and was Directly Referred to in the anime as an "electric mouse", hinting That Real-world mice exist in the PokΓ©mon world.

Guess the creators didn't like the idea of Pokemon eating each other instead of just battling.

My guess is that Pokemon takes place on an alternate Earth which is much bigger than ours with it's northern half containg our 7 coninates and it's southern half containg Pokemon's continates.

All of these pictures are from a series set in the first region, so I shall give a reason to every number.
1) To be honest, this WAS a bad mistake but, even though they have some sea dwelling pokemon in the first region (Tentacool, Seel, Horsea, Gyardos ETC) the two only pokemon of it that look like fish are Magikarp and Goldeen, and nether of them look like sea fish.
2) If this is a episode before any miltank was even thought up, then Ash would have to wear a cow suit because Tauros don't have udders.
3) This was defintly before third region, so Corphish didn't exist. Plus it would look wrong.
4) This was defintly before third region, so Zangoose didn't exist. Plus it's Zangoose and SEVIPER that are enemies, not Zangoose and Seviper.
5) This is probably because that caterpie and weedle (the two only worm-like pokemon back then) wouldn't fit in Pidgeotto's mouth.
6) Magikarp's inedible, Goldeens a pet pokemon.

Perhaps the real animals are (probably unsuccessful) invasive species to the Poke-world, and they stuck around long enough to filter into the Poke-public consciousness.

I kind of disagree, there should be animals as well as their Pokemon, because the setting of the anime is on Earth, plus how can any of these Pokemon have a type named after an animal, even though there isn't any.
Example: Vulpix (the Fox Pokemon), Skorupi (the Scorpion Pokemon), Wingull (the Sea Gull Pokemon), Miltank (the Milk Cow Pokemon), Mankey (the Pig Monkey Pokemon) and Chillarmy (the Chinchilla Pokemon)

Most of the Pokemon you mentioned as subsitutes for the real animals weren't even around in Generation 1. Who's to say there isn't real animals in the Pokemon World? They might just be a small minority.

because there sloppy. every episode has three or four mistakes in it, from the pidgeot being shown as a fearow in the first movie, to inverting the eyes of garchomp, they never cease to get something major screwed up.

You really can't count 2,3,4 because the Pokemon listed were not created yet. Real world animal pop up mostly in the first seasons then now. I don't think there keen on the pokemon being eaten even though the Poke-dex says some Pokemon pray on others. They even stated farfetch'D was a delicacy. Oddly they have never shown a pokemon being eaten.

if this were real world, pokemon might be like real world animals.
but, since its a cartoon for kids, pokemon faint instead of die,and are never seen eaten or eating other pokemon.

I think they must, in three games there as been graves. In R/B cubone's mother died and the tower trainers mourned for there pokemon. So I go back to the creators of the anime and even the games glossing over the fact it happens. I believe that if they were real creature and if though they are not preying on other creatures does happen. It's just some thing the they do not want to show because it my be off putting to the kids. I would guess it's slits in to plant eater are eaten by the meat eaters.
Does that make plant types cannibals if they get plants? Would in fact a plant type even eat since they could just make food through photosynthesis......one wonders

I know in the old pokedex book I have pikachu is said to be smarter than the average dog so I believe there to be regular animals as well as pokemon in the same world, but it doesn't make since to have both because the regular animals would probably just be slaghtered by the pokemon, but these are later episodes and I am sure seeing a worm being eaten is better than seeing a caterpie being eaten. It is a kids show after all.

I believe that there are regular creatures and the Pokemon are creatures in the regions that were affected by a radiation, kinda like the radiation given off from evo stones. Look at Raichu's FireRed pokedex entry.
Its electric charges can reach even 100,000 volts. Careless contact can cause even an **Indian elephant** to faint.
This means there's an India, and they have elephants. Not Donphan. 100,000 volts would not harm a ground type. This means that the pokeregions are a part of the 'real' world, and they have their own creatures.
Since Pokemon loosely follows evolution, I would think that the regular creatures seen in the eps have not yet exposed to the 'radiation' long enough. Give 'em a few millions years, or the next generation or two, and you'll see the new 'worm' pokemon

For what it's worth, all these examples come from the first 30 episodes or so, before all the rules of the anime's universe had been laid down in stone. Eventually, it was decided not to depict PokΓ©mon and animals in the same scene.
So basically, it boils down to the "It's just a show, I should really just relax."

again, it only makes sense because in a scientific point of view in the original series there was only 150 animals to keep the world in balance. even if there were 493 types of animals it still would F**K up nature
