Description Original Descriptive title is very original

This here, pending my latest (and probably my longest, say, going on eight years now) obsession of Legend of Zelda, is a picture for my dear ~waitingtoolong . I hope you like it dear! He likes Ganon's design heaps and heaps (Ocarina of Time and Windwaker mostly I believe), so I thought I would use ole' Gan to get back into the swing of digital art after an extended absence.

Now about this picture. The only thing I am really proud of about is that I did not use any lineart or lines really (just to check proportions, but that hardly counts methinks). And I really like Ganon's face, but you can't really see it until you get close up. And that's about it. I really dislike my digital art 'style,' or what have you, at the moment, and it's just too.... thick. I want it to look more like watercolor. There are some amazing artists here on dA who have mastered this and I simply don't know how. I guess it's a lot of experimentation and knowing how to use photoshop, which I really don't know how to use.

Ah well. Practice make perfect! I would really appreciate some constructive crit on this, so if you would be so kind, please let me know what I did wrong, and maybe even right, on this piece. I do plan to revisit it one day, just not right now and after I have complied some useful information regarding this picture.

I appreciate you stopping by!
Ganon is Shigeru Miyamoto's brainchild, art is yours truly! No stealing without permission!

I like this!! The detail on the arms is fantastic, his hair looks awesome, and that shadow just makes it pop. This character setting is fantastic. I would love to see a copy of this from the other side, with the cape at the back and his chest forward.

For constructive criticism, I think the cape needs to look like it is "Rounded" about his body, with accented shading and such along with the ripple lines. Also, you have a lot of nice detail in the hands that are covered up by his magic, which looks like it could be toned down just a bit. (Could be affected by different computer screens and brightness settings).

Thanks so much, you! This is great!

Thank you!! I am happy that the mission was a success! haha.

I was originally going to make the picture of him facing forward, but the intricacy of his costume scared me honestly, so I though I'd start simple. I'm such a chicken.

Thank you for the crit! It makes sense, and I appreciate it. I shall definitely take it into account when I revisit the picture! I might be able to update the picture with a less dark version of his magic, it's a fairly simple fix.

You're welcome my darling! I'm so happy that you like it!

There is nothing wrong with a version 2.0. If you dont like it, do another from scratch, and use what you learned to make a better picture. You have the talent, so i know you can do it! And to be honest, you do better with intricate details as apposed to the bigger "plain" parts, so i am sure you could do the front no problem.

I think a joint paint project between us would be interesting... We shall try it sometime. hrmmm....

This is very true. Thanks haha, at least someone has confidence in me!

That would be very interesting! I like that idea! We should both do a lineart, then switch to paint it. Just let me know what media you want to use! (Watercolor, pencil, digital, etc.)
