Description St. Michael the Archangel, photographed at New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland. Unfortunately the blade of his sword is long gone. Prayer...

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan and all other evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

I have pictures taken of practically the same statue. The one difference is he has a sword in the dragons mouth. I like your photographs.

It's really difficult to find a St. Matthew statue with the sword intact. I've seen about a dozen like this - with the sword missing - and photographed one or two with the sword intact.

Thanks for the kind comment - I'll definitely check your gallery out!

Another beautiful shot. I've never seen a statue of that before - it's awesome.

Yes, I think this one is a bit unusual. You would only see it in a Catholic cemetery, and we have a couple near here.

That makes sense.
