Description

My first attempt and project at designing a compact city vehicle. Also a contest entry for this design competition----->www.carbodydesign.com/2014/05/… Designed In Green

Took me around 170+ hours I guess, and as usual, was all done in Adobe Photoshop CS5

The BMW ActiveCity is a small electric megacity vehicle for the year 2025. Having the body shape of a compact 3 door hatchback, this vehicle offers private means of future transportation through crowded cities in an economical and fun way.

With compactness and efficiency being the key focus, and with the aim to offer fun in driving as well as pleasure of ownership, the exterior design features some curvy yet smooth lines that give the vehicle a modern and somewhat cute look.

Shared Use Concept Description :

The BMW ActiveCity possesses many unique design traits, one of them being the double window with a small window right below the large window on the side, hence, allowing no a, b pillar frame. The BMW ActiveCity is able to hold up to 4 passengers as well as 200 liters of luggage space

While the main body frame is made of aluminum for structural rigidity, the car's main shell, doors, and the rims are made of reinforced plastic (thermoplastic polymer). By 2025, plastics will be extensively used on small budget vehicles. Therefore, the BMW ActiveCity is much easier to recycle, but is also a lot less expensive. Thanks to the new technology of the mass production of thermoplastic polymer. Adding to that, with graphene durable batteries along with solar panels, ActiveCity offers a range of more than 400 km at full charge while emitting no more than 40g/km CO2.

I am not sure. Hydrogen for one thing is extremely heavy and "VERY" explosive.

So being honest, I think we'll be seeing more electric vehicles in the near future.

I see. I thought it would be less costly than gas or electric. Because electric still is not clean unless you use solar energy. Not many other than Tesla charging stations have Solar...

That's why future electric vehicles will have solar panels on the roof of the vehicle.

As long as it's a better system than the Fisker Karma.

Good work!
Even though you said that it would be "small-budget car", on the contrary it doesn't look cheap. So I guess design succeeded well

I like the little details somehow the car looks quite sporty

CryoticPower [2014-09-24 06:14:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow that looks like it could work if you had a cooling unit for the battery block and mirrors that are bigger. The solar roof needs to be waterproof because of rain and electricity. It also needs a charger and a failsafe for the solar panels if they dont work but still generate power. I would recommend that it have an i-Eloop/ regenerative braking system so the car doesnt rely on the solar panel but overall this car is great.

The artwork itself is superb. I have my head stuck in the 1960's and I'm not much for modern vehicles. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work of a dedicated artist.
