Description (This art is displayed @ my Secondlife Art Gallery)

As part of a SecondLife Photoart contest for the new home sim of the "DISTRESSED TEXTURES" creator/vendor, I tried to capture my own contest submissions at the ETERNIDAD sim. I was not going to participate as the sim is very beautiful but with the very large prize and the relatively limited photo opportunities on the sim, I didnt think I would have much of a chance against such amazing artists.

But I decided to go and see if my eye could catch something unique on the sim - something that at first glance looks very simple yet if taken from the right angle and lighting and with the right texturing, it could maybe turn to be a pleasent surprise on the sim. Well a weather-beaten picket fence with overgrown wild grasses caught my eye.

My camera was set to a position to make the fence stretch to the center-point of the photo from the bottom left third of the photo with the sim's ocean horizon in the distance. Then I ended up taking taking 3 identical photos from the exact cam position while experimenting with different sim SKY environment parameters.

Turns out take the 3 photos from the same position was helpful. I ended up layering them on top of each other and then played with the blending and balance of the 3 until I got an lighting/sky mood that I really liked!

I wanted to add a roughness and further beaten coloring to the art and the clouds, so I used two of my private Real Life photos (a wallpaper and a sandstone wall) that I had. Finally I added a brightness layer to brighten up the grasses and then mask out the sky back to the Dark Looming rain clouds look.

I am happy how it turned out - when I wasnt even sure where I was going with this in the first place. Its called "WILD PICKET"
