Auden is the kind of guy you could either grow to love or be quick to hate. He usually keeps up his good manners when first encoutering somebody, acting like a true gentleman because well, that was the era he grew up in. A time where chivalry was very much alive. He can sometimes lose track of himself and sound like he stepped right out of a time machine, but he tries his best to keep it under wraps. In truth, he is kind of reluctant to admit his true age to anyone. Though still being young for a dragon, he fears his age will alienate him from developing any real bonds with anybody. Once you get through the initial formalities and Auden is more relaxed around you he can seem very full of himself, he calls it "confidence" but in truth it is much more than that. He loves to boast about his past achievements and to a certain degree sees himself as better than some people due to his size and ability when he is in his "true" form or so he likes to call it, meaning his dragon form. He has a certain degree of loathing for his human form because it is smaller than most and leaves him weaker with considerably less defenses, which is why he attempts to make himself seem "stronger" and "more formidable" by bragging about himself and his physical accomplishments. He can be quite sarcastic most of the time, and it can often be hard to tell if he's truly being sincere when you speak to him or not, he often finds he has to actually tell people when he's not trying to sound sarcastic. He is rather stubborn when it comes to most situations and seems to live by the code "my way or no way". This ties in with his guarded personality trait, he uses his negative traits almost as a defense to put people off from trying to get to know him. He's social, yes, extremely, but his "friendships" usually only go skin deep, there aren't many who truly know what makes this man tick. This causes an internal struggle for Auden because there is a part of him that so desperately craves to have a meaningful relationship with another being, but it is over weighed by his need to protect himself from being "emotionally destroyed" as he see's it like he had been in the past.

History:

Auden was born in the late 1700's to what at the time was considered a "Noble" family of dragons. His parents and himself lived outside the cities of humans as dragons were not accepted into the public eye in that age. He was happy, truly, for the first 20 years of his life. He was respected within their community and would be for the rest of his life if it had remained. However, humans were unforgiving at that time. He returned home from a scouting expedition to find his entire community in ruins, most deceased and the survivors had scattered. He had spent years searching for his family, but when he found someone whom his father had been business partners with the older man confessed his worst fears; that they too had been lost. For a long time after the fact he wandered, causing chaos and destruction to the cities of man where ever he could. When he eventually settled on the outskirts of a quickly evolving human community he found himself unable to do it harm, for it was here that Auden fell in love for the first time.
It was the townships mayors son. Being a dragon he could not outright approach the boy, so he did what dragons had always done best.
He kidnapped the princess.
Well, "princess". He kidnapped the mayors daughter, the boys sister. He did not harm her, on the contrary after initially calming her fears and worries about him hurting her they grew quite close in the few days it took for their brother to find them. In that time he had confessed to the girl, named Christina, that she hadn't been his true target; that the reason he took her was because he wanted her brother to come "rescue her", so he would have an opportunity to introduce himself.
Kidnapping his sister might not have been the best way to introduce yourself to anyone. The boy, Adam, was furious during the beginning and highly suspicious of Auden. Though when he learned what his sister had learned they all became rather friendly. Knowing Auden could never go to their hometown the two, mostly Adam, would ride out to Audens lair which he had relocated to be closer to them both. It was here, that over what was a brief two years for the young dragon fell for the human so deeply and so dangerously. Adam returned his feelings, and through many trials and tribulations the two actually managed to spend a single, wonderful lifetime together.
But Auden was near-immortal, with a lifespan that far outlived that of Adam mortal one. It seemed so fleeting, so painfully short although Adam had lived to an old age for a man. When he did eventually pass Auden was distraught and inconsolable. There was not a single being on earth now whom he was close to, who could have been there for him. He spent many, many years locked away in his lair, where he and the one he loved had lived together. He drowned in his sorrow, his pain. It was only recently that he began to venture outward, finding people grew more and more accepting as time continued to drum on. He is fully out of his old habits of hiding away in the dark now. He loves interacting with as many people as he can, though he can never forget the bitter agony of loss he had experienced so long ago. There is a part of Auden that desperately wants to reach out and possibly develop a relationship like his and Adams again, though there is another part that feels it would be betraying his past lover. It causes near-constant inner turmoil.

+ He can often be found watching the sunsets somewhere with a view. He finds them peaceful, and they relax him
+ Burnt Orange is his favorite color, though when asked he typically just state "orange" to avoid sounding pretentious.
