Description I'm really not trying to be bitchy and boss people around. I'm just trying to explain my thoughts on the matter. I'm sorry if I'm being a bit aggressive about this, but...

Seriously, if you can't stand the fact that people are favoriting your stamps instead of your other art...don't make stamps. If you want there to be a stamp that says the message you want, you could always request one. There are people who are willing to take requests. Then they can get the favorites on the stamp and it won't be such a "burden" for you.

Yes, I know that you've spent a lot more time on some of your other stuff, but maybe people just aren't interested in it or aren't aware of the fact that it's there. Just saying "There's other stuff in my gallery" doesn't really help, because unless the person is really interested in your style or the subjects you cover overall, they may not want to dig through your whole gallery just to find something they like and make sure you're happy enough so they can add the stamp to their favorites. A lot of people find things because they search for the topic. If they didn't find your other work, perhaps they're not looking for that sort of thing.

When it all comes down to it, sure, you don't have to appreciate the favorites, but I find it a bit strange that people bitch about it. It's not insulting or anything like that. If anything, it's a compliment.

If you think the stamp is so pointless, why did you even post it..?

Why Stamps Get So Many Favorites

I have some theories as to why stamps get so many favorites, for those who aren't sure why...

1) Some people like things that they feel like they can get involved with or use to represent themselves. Many stamps display messages that others can relate to and may cause them to want to display it on/in their profile/favorites/journal/etc because of that.

2) Quite a few people do not have paid accounts and have to stamps instead of posting the thumbnail somewhere. Also, some people stamps as a way to inform the stamp maker that they are using it.

3) Each time a stamp is displayed on someone's page, a link is created to the submission ( if done properly, that is ). In a way, it's almost like being featured. So if 50+ people are using the stamp, that's like having 50+ features! Most submissions are lucky to get one or two features.

4) Quite a few users really enjoy looking at stamp collections as well as collecting their own stamps. Not only do many of the stamps represent them, they can also be very fun to find, read, and place.

Put all of those together and you've got yourself quite a system. It's very easy for stamps to generate many pageviews.

Even so, some of them don't get very many favorites, because not many people relate to it or are not very fond of how it looks. So if a stamp gets a lot of favorites, people must really like it. Congratz!

I'm a bit apprehensive about posting this...

Comments are turned off on this account. The submissions are simply here for you to enjoy. You do not need to ask me if you may use this stamp. Feel free to display this image in journal/shoutboard/etc, if you would like to.
