Description
Len presses the button on the vending machine for his selection when she suddenly grabs his arm. He sees Rin, eyes wide open, almost like an innocent doe but also, he notices, almost pleading.Rin: I want to look at that shop over there.
Len: Hang on, Sis ...
He stoops down to pick up his drink and change from the vending machine, but notices that she hasn't let go of his arm. She's been like that all morning, ever since she insisted that he go down with her to the shopping arcade. She had stated that there was something she wanted to buy and wanted company. But being a Saturday morning, he was hoping to either get more sleep or spend a couple of hours playing his latest computer game. Then there was the Term Papers that he should be paying some attention to also.
But when Rin is insistent, it can be really hard to turn her down. So he relented with a sigh and allowed her to pull him out of the house. And so, they've been here for over two hour now and she still hasn't bought anything. Rather, she's been dragging him into one shop after another and all she did was look at merchandise in a half-hearted fashion. He was getting bored, and for that matter, hungry. Well at least there's a McDonalds further down. If they hurry, he thought, they might just be able to beat the lunch time rush too.
There's that tug again and that look ...
Rin has certainly grown into a stunningly attractive young woman, he thought. Yet, he noted, she doesn't seem to have any boy friends, but not from a want of volunteers. Given half a chance, he thought, they would be queued round the corner trying to get a date from Rin. Especially given the way she's dressed today. As it was, she got rather a lot of "looks" this morning down here at the arcade.
Rin: Come'on lets go there ... (there's that pleading look again he noted)
Len: Sure, but let me just finish my soda first, kay? Can't take this into a shop now can I?
Len observes Rin carefully for a moment as she brushed her bangs away from her eyes. Then watched as she fidgeted nervously whilst he was finishing his drink. With a carefully aimed throw, he tosses the can straight into the recycle bin. He cocks his head slightly to one side with a sudden resolve and without warning he grabs Rin around her slender waist. As he guessed correctly, she wouldn't struggle and she didn't. He then dragged her around the corner into a niche where they could not be seen and presses her gently, but firmly against the wall. All she does is look down; she did not seem to want to meet his eyes.
Rin is rather taken back by her brother's sudden change of mood and his firm handling of her. She did not unwelcome the advances that he seemed to be making, but her heart was pounding really hard against her chest now and it was getting hard to breathe.
Would he ... kiss me, she thought to herself, and felt herself blushing self-consciously. He's so different now, his body so muscular and hard, unlike the wimpy little boy she grew up with all these years. And now he's pressing hard against me, she thought, holding me firmly around the waist as if ... I was his woman.
Len, gently lifted up his sister's face by the chin until their eyes met, then he bent down to kiss her ...
OMG, Rin thought, he's really going to kiss me ... but she did not resist, in fact, she made her lips ready to meet his, but for some reason she kept her eyes tightly closed; why she didn't know.
And so he kissed her.
A deep long kiss filled with passion and love.
On her forehead ... which he gently flicked as soon as his lips parted; but he kept her immobile by pressing her firmly but gently against the wall.
Len: Rin, I will always love you. You are the most important person in my life and always will be.
He kisses her again, gently, but this time on the nose. Rin's heart is pumping so hard she thinks she's about to pass out. He grabs her gently, but firmly by the shoulders and pulls her towards him, pressing her hard against his chest.
Len: But also, you're my most important little sister, and because of that, certain things cannot be. That doesn't mean I think any less of you. If anything, it means more to me than any relationship that I have with any other woman or for that matter, will have with any other woman in the future.
Rin's body stiffens for a moment, and then relaxes. Soon Len feels dampness seeping into his T-shirt, so he just holds Rin there for a few long moments.
Len: I'm going to let go of you in a moment, Rin. When I do ... there had better not be any snot on my T-shirt ...
Rin hits him, but not very hard.
So he presses her tightly against him one more time before letting her go, but not completely. Instead, he takes her firmly by the hand and leads her in a determined direction.
Rin: Where are you taking me?
Len: To a Love Hotel ...
Rin: No, seriously ...
Len pulls Rin into a nearby boutique and proceeds to go through the racks looking for something. A shop assistant comes up to inquire if she could be of assistance.
Len: As a matter of fact, if you can help me, I'd be really grateful. I'm looking for the biggest T-shirt that I can find to cover my little sister over there with. I don't want her going around dressed like that and attracting all the wrong attention, know what I mean?
The shop assistant looks at Rin, then smiles; and for some reason although Rin remains very quiet, she is very, very happy ...

Here's the thing. I've heard both sides of the debate. Both arguments are valid. But the one thing that negates "lovers" for me, is the same surname. I'd heard too many stories from the European old world family on my mom's side about idiot children being born of brother/sister wedlocks. And at one point, my mother had once shared a secret thought that I might get interested in my cousin, the daughter of my mother's half sister. (We share the same grandmother.) Granted, she was a GORGEOUS girl for the day, but, well, she's my cousin! ANYway, this is a nice pic and story.

Well, archaeologists and other scientists have done serious research into incestuous pairings as was practiced by the Ancient Egyptian nobility and they found out something rather unexpected. According to them, as long as they bring in genes from outside of the familial gene pool every two generations or so, there doesn't seem to be any intrinsic harm with this practice. Which is probably why that institution lasted for so many generations and actually produced some very gifted Pharaohs.
Don't take this as endorsement of the practice. Probably the conventional wisdom of proscribing such pairings is nature's way of telling us that it's not in the best interest of our specie.

But it is interesting that the Japanese fandom culture does explore quite openly such things like incest which we tend to not talk about "Overseas".

True.
Problem is, relying on the fandom would just increase the arguements on what they really *are*. They're eachother's everything and nothing at once, yet people just can't let that be. So many of us decide "they're twins" or "they're lovers", and can't seem to respect other's opinions. The reason I don't actively support Rin/Len is'nt because I care about what they really "should be" or "are", I just prefer other pairings. That's one reason I like the Rin/Len version of Magnet. It combines the "twins" idea with the "lovers" idea, in one of the few songs that suits such a combination. (I find it slightly annoying that people always use Magnet for any pairing, fitting or not.) That's another reason I like your potrayal of the Kagamines, you really don't pick either side. You dismiss the pointless arguements and move on with your ideas, instead of trying to defend either point. Just another reason you're just so dang awesome.

Who may be the match for Rin?

Rin's an interesting character; but if you were to ask me to psyho-analyze her, my prognosis is that of all the Vocaloids (given their normal memes), she is the one most prone to a mental breakdown, probably occurring around her early to mid-30s unless she's able to find someone stable, sensible and patient enough to stand-by her.
This will immediately rule out Kaito, as he really is an idiot; and as for Len. Well first off, Len's her brother and secondly, if he actually does end up with Neru in their 20s, I doubt that he would have much time for Rin as Neru is a handful in her own right.
The Vocaloid males are, in my book, "weak" as male characters as described in their standard memes. For that matter, many male leads in Japanese anime tend to be weak by our standards (outside of those in samurai and fighting theme anime and these latter for the most part, are over the top and "unreal").
So, I have no idea.

No - she's not a candidate for the "nut house". More like a decomposition of her character, a personality breakdown if you prefer, and depending on her circumstances/environment when that happens it could be a positive, or it could be a negative experience. Having someone in her life at around that point who is a positive force (or even children as in offsprings) would tilt towards the positive or negate the breakdown in the first place.
