Love the way you described both characters pasts and how thats affected them in this scene, the word choice grabs you and pulls you in, as always your artwork is amazing and beyond compare <3

I'm a little confused at the panel where Mordecai and that thug notice each other while Mordecai is grabbing the bag... how did the wind blowing in give their positions away to each other?

ha! this is awesome! i love the words and how they are talking about the flashback but actually don't talk about the flashback... all the imagery gives you a clear and concise concept of exactly what happened. amazing. im blown away.

No, the combination of his hasty backwards stumble-retreat and the punch from the shotgun did. While the action in this comic has always tried to remain at least semi-convincing, it's never been entirely 100% realistic. I don't think I'm asking for too much suspension of disbelief here, but I'm finding people don't seem to want to lend the same physical leeway to a comic about talking cats they would any movie or tv show with any amount of action in it. Perhaps the still images just lend themselves to such scrutiny.

I did not mean to scrutinise, (i mean let's face it your art and story telling is incredible!)
But I'm half way through doing an engineering degree so i know that the impulse (or the force) experience by the beam would be due to the change in momentum from the backwards retreat and the bullet's deceleration into the bag of cash and based on the shear strength of a wooden beam of that size it seem a little infeasible (although i have made many assumptions in this for example the beam could be older and deteriorating)
But I am simply nitpicking at something that, like you said, many tv shows and movies have done before (but that doesn't excuse the lack of physics there either!)
The action in this page is so amazing and dynamic that you shouldn't let some stuffy nay-saying physics nerd like me get you down for... bending... Newton's laws of motion.
I apologise if my insensitivity offended you (im an engineer! we aren't known for being good with people-skills) it wasn't my intent to criticise.
