Description

Sorry for the simple title. I can't think of anything creative now.

This was merely an excuse to try shading the texture of a hand-knitted scarf.

The texture was (obviously) a pain to do.
Not knowing how to symbolise/take a short cut on shading the actual texture of a hand-knitted scarf meant that I had to shade the individual stitches on it.
I do like how it turned out in the end though, albeit it was much different from the softness that I had in mind.
And from far, far away, the scarf looks like a caterpillar...segmented and fat.

Wanted to add in a background, but I was lazy.
Maybe next time, when a serious picture calls for a realistic-looking scarf.

Clover (girl in the picture) belongs to me.

Tools used:
0.5mm mech. pencil, and a soft eraser.

Thanks for finding this doodle nice enough to use in a photoshopped picture with a celebrity
It would've been nicer if you could've asked me beforehand so that I could give you a high-res version of the picture to use though but nevermind it's okay~

Love the detailed shading. Though, could you tell me how you got your pencil lines to look that detailed? (Did you use a scanner or a camera?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

trainingartist In reply to DianthaWisteria [2011-08-22 07:57:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I used a scanner for this, it was scanned at a resolution of 300 dpi. Hope that helped. C:

I use an Epson scanner. c:

Everyone uses Espon scanners. Except me. *shot*

Which Espon scanner is it? Sorry for all the questions. ^^"

trainingartist In reply to DianthaWisteria [2011-08-23 15:47:04 +0000 UTC]

Lmao

Well, I'm not sure which Epson scanner it is, but imo for scanning grayscale drawings any printer should be fine (since darkness levels can be adjusted), as long as you set it to a high resolution so that it can capture all those small little details. At least 200dpi should do.

x'D Nice to know I made someone laugh. ^^"

My scanner sucks, than. You can't adjust anything. Dx And the resolution is terrible. ^^" Oh well, thanks for your time.
