NAME:  Chasm

AGE:  35

gender:  Male

SPECIES:  A hybrid of Seawing and Nightwing

OCCUPATION:  Entertainer

FAMILY:  Nightwing mother, Seawing father

BIO

Chasm is a bit of an oddball in his family.  His mother, who was a Nightwing, wanted him to conform to t)he teachings of other Nightwings, especially the gift of prophecy (and to be fair Chasm did have the right qualities as such.  He was pretty good at determining what other people needed or wanted to hear.  He was good at making rhyming couplets, and he even successfully made a few prophecies that came true.  For example, he predicted that that he and his parents would be forced to leave the Nightwing island before it was expected to erupt due to a food shortage.  He also predicted the demise of a few of the Nightwings who would inevitably displease the Queen.  One such dragon eventually turned out to be Vengeance (Though by the time that happened Chasm and his family had already settled into a brand new home where they stayed for several years.)

Chasm's Seawing father on the other hand...well, let's just say he had a personality very much like Prince Arctic, and just about the same kind of backstory (even if he wasn't a prince, or an animus.  No, he just got the short end of the stick in a relationship, and after his ex-wife died...he became quite bitter.  The good news is he was just and fair, but not very nice.

BACKSTORY.

Chasm was born on the Nightwing volcano, as per the strict rules of Nightwing eggs (even hybrids), but because Chasm's father was a Seawing, he was not invited to attend the hatching (bu he found a way to sneak in anyway, simply because he was at a point in his life where he didn't care what happened to him.).  The first few years of Chasm's life were pretty normal by Nightwing standards, but he was still allowed to visit his father and learn some Seawing traits, like using his phosphorescent scales to communicate underwater with other Seawings (or other creatures who could read his flashes).

He was even born under a single full moon and as such has the gift of prophecy.  He doesn't like when it activates at random, but he has gotten better at controlling it.  His father absolutely HATES the ability as a whole, but knows there's nothing that he can do about it, so he doesn't let it show.  The bad news is that Chasm had difficulty making friends because often time when someone approached him looking for a friend, chasm would often tell them how they were going to die, not by his own accord of course, but often enough to where it got annoying.  His reputation spread quickly, and thus made it harder.  As he learned to control it, many people who were afraid of him did manage to get close enough to befriend him.  One even suggested turning his prophecies into song lyrics (since there were dragons that might take advantage o such a skill and make Chasm use his power in ways he never wanted (like for example predicting how his parents would die just to torture him).

Things went smoothly for a while, but eventually his gift was discovered by Abyss, which unfortunately is also how Morrowseer found out.  Morrowseer captured Chasm's father and used him as leverage hoping to get Chasm to help with the big prophecy in taking over the Rainforest.  Chasm, wanting nothing to do with invasion, told Morrowseer to go suck on a fugu puffer fish.  This enraged Morrowseer to the point where he was going to kill Chasm's father...only to discover that he had escaped.  Morrowseer didn't know anything about the Seawing's abilities (one of which was pickings locks as said Seawing used to be a spy for the Queen, so he knew a few tricks.  The mother was equally untouchable, with strong fighting skills that would make even the strongest Nightwing among the tribe jealous (including Vampire).

After that, things started to fall apart with their relationship.  Morrowseer ordered Chasm's mother off the island, to where he cared not, and the father...Well, Morrowseer never found him, so he simply presumed him dead.  As for Chasm, Morrowseer forced him to stay locked up, and use his powers whether he wanted to or not.  This included many creative kinds of torture, including thumb screws, water drops on the head, or even being threatened to be thrown into the volcano itself (which coincidentally allowed him to predict Morrowseer's demise, but he didn't reveal it.  One day after a particularly brutal session he started to recite song lyrics for his prophecy, only he had no idea where they had come from.  (It turned out to be the lyrics of Dance Macabre by Ghost oddly enough).  The worse the punishments got, the more likely he would recite song lyrics instead of convincing prophecies (even having his light-up scales help him..)  But Morrowseer refused to give uu.  Eventually Chasm has more than enough strength and determination (from his mother who actually had telepathy to give him hope.  The chains broke as if they were made of glass, which surprised even Morrowwseer, and he did everything he could to keep him from escaping...But no dice.  Chasm wanted no more of the Nightwing and no more brutality.  His powers were his to decide what to do, and nobody was ever going to control him again.  He decided not to kill Morrowseer, knowing that he would get his just desserts eventually and fled the kingdom almost a full year before the Dragonet Prophecy was first issued.  (He was fifteen at the time.)'

Chasm eventually reunited with his parents, but his father had definitely seen better days.  It turns out however that the new injuries were caused from his mother.  The two had gotten into a MASSIVE fight over their differing ideas.  The father wanted to hide, while the mother wanted to fight.  Chasm simply wanted to put as much distance between himself, his family, and anyone else he found on the way, as possible.  He never even wanted to SEE another prophecy in his life.

His parents eventually broke up, but it was a surprisingly clean break-up.  They still respected one another to remain as friends and contacts.  The father had connections to many helpful Seawings who would look out for threats, while the mother also had connections to other Nightwings who had fled, or at the very least had secrets of their own (such as Secretkeeper).

Both of Chasm's parents told him that since4 he was no old enough to take care of himself, he could do whatever he wanted.  He could follow his heard, so that's what he did.  He began having prophecies almost every other week, and each one he turned into a big hit song.  He had later heard of a dragon by the name of Legion, and he liked his music, so he hop0ed one day to perform alongside him to get his songs some attention.  He got his wish a couple off months later.  Legion was looking for an opening act, and Chasm just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  He was a hit.  Not all of his prophecies became songs, and not all of the songs he performs came from prophecies.  (Some were just songs he liked the sound of, such as the aforementioned Dance Macabre.)

Over the years, his shows started to get bigger and bigger.  He even took some lessons from Legion, and other dragon who had similar interests.  He even learned to choreograph his Seawing flashes with the music on demand, which made an already spectacular hit into an amazing one.

Chasm certainly found entertaining to be to his liking and as such has even got back-up band.  The name of which is Chasm Chaos.

His parents are still around, and often see him when he performs, and contrary6 to popular belief, they ARE NOT divorced.  They just no longer live together because of their different life styles.

If there is one thing that Chasm learned while he was forced to be Morrowseer's prophecy it's that people will try to use you if they think they can get away with it, it's up to YOU to make sure they don't.  Someone MAY help you, but in the end it's up to you to step forth and show your own claws.  Don't stop.  Break through the wall, break the chains that bind you.  If you can manage that, you can manage anything.  and those are the words he lives by to this day.

ABILITIES

He has traits and abilities of each tribe.  He can see in the dark like a Seawing.  He can foresee the future like a Nightwing (even if that power is limited), and for some reason he often has a song running through his head to reflect how he's feeling at the time.  For example when he was being tortured, when he had had enough the song Don't Stop by Nothing More played and he was able to break the chains.  Other notable songs that played in his head were Rats by Ghost, Teenage Frankenstein by Alice Cooper, Chainbreaker by Primal Fear, and even Blood Bound by Hammerfall.  What's crazy though is that in some cases, he had never even HEARD the song before it popped into his head.  He often credits that to his prophecy ability.  The song often helps to change his mood as well.

STRENGTHS
Because of everything he has been through, he has a very strong will, and is not easy to manipulate or sway.  He primarily stands for good, but he is not afraid to attack those he knows, especially if he has reason to believe they're turning traitor (and yes, he has had to kill some dragons he once considered friends because they did just that, whether they be Sandwing, Seawing, or Nightwing.  He doesn't discriminate.  (And he had quite a bit of respect for the dragons in the Talons of Peace, with whom he stayed for a short time.)

Because of his extensive training, he has also been known to overpower even the strongest foes who come before him.  Even the heavyset Mudwings had a tough time beating Chasm in one-on-one combat.  He's so strong that he has been able to lift a Mudwing off the ground and throw him/her into a pine tree.  It didn't injure injure the Mudwing because of its durability, but it was enough to prove a point.

WEAKNESS

Fear of snakes.  He has been bitten by several snakes in his lifetime, and as such does not care of them very much.

Limited fire:  He can breath fire, and he does during his shows, but his supply is limited because of his Seawing blood.

THEME SONG:  Don't Stop by Nothing More (www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvjMOG… )
