Since then, I've decided to draw both of them together, partly so people know what Pug looks like.

*Ahem*

Jinty and Pug first appeared in RWS #12, The Eight Famous Engines, Story 4, The Fat Controller's Engines. They were two of seven engines who arrived from the mainland to help out while engines 1-8 (Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby and Duck) went to England so that Sir Topham Hatt could prove they were real (NOTE: They're only real in the RWS universe, as the RWS books exist within the RWS universe).

The TV version of the story was called "Thomas and the Special Letter". There were a few notable changes, such as that more familiar characters took up the role of the mainland engines, that Thomas got more focus, and perhaps the biggest, most significant change of all was that more emphasis was put on children (obviously due to it being a children's show), particularly with how a little girl wrote the letter instead of the mainland controller(s).

NOTES:

- Jinty's face is still based on that of Stanley from "The Great Discovery", even though TheGermanEngine made his own custom face for the character (seen here: fav.me/d8fik7v ). This is because I've started the pic a long time ago, and only just finished it. Also, I still prefer Jinty as having a more Thomas-like face.
- Pug's face is almost completely custom, though it is partly based on that of Luke from "Blue Mountain Mystery".
