Oh yeah, his name is Toby. He's 45 kilos and black as the night. And a wonderful friend. Despite his size, he's very cautious, doesn't like fights; instead, he concentrates on his food.
Toby turned already nine this year, so for his size, he's rather oldish. But our last dog was the same size, and he lived up to fifteen - which is really methusalemic for big dogs.
A fighting fish? I've seen them, and they seem to be rather mad at times.

Methusalemic? -goes check the dictionary- I only found "Methuselah" At my age, there's still SO much for me to learn 
Oh so Toby's your 2nd dog? At 45kg, he must be rather large O.O No, VERY large. Banana is only 14-16 Kg at medium size. She loves food too. One time, she climbed onto my table and there goes my lunch.

You did the right thing by consulting your dictionary; "methusalemic" doesn't exist in english language use. It's borrowed from the biblical "Methusalem" (oddly enough, Methuselah" in english) and just meaning incredibly old.
Even the sweetest of dogs is prone to swallow your lunch if it's unattended.
Once we have been to a birthday party with him. The people there didn't know his rules, of course. So anybody who would place a sandwich lower than said line had to learn how quickly it could be wasted. Some had to learn it the hard way. They were talking to others and didn't want to be rude by chewing their sandwich while engaged in small talk, so they parked it on a TV-table or somesuch place. Quick as an arrow, Toby was there and cleaned it off. Most thought it hilarious, fortunately.

Wow that's one intelligent you have. Banana eats/chews on almost anything. She even chewed on bath soup and swallowed durian seeds once. She was once severely underweight when we bought her from her 1st owner (she was 5 months old then) and now she's gained weight, but still not obese....yet. The vet says that Beagles are prone to obesity and skin problems. =/

Ah, I would have known a good trick to keep Banana from chewing up about everything in reach, but maybe it's a bit late now.
And so it goes: when Toby started to chew up the carpet on the stairs when he was a puppy, we sliced a chili and rubbed chili and seeds into the corners of the carpet. Next time he tried, he was not too happy about the taste and the burning sensation he experienced. From then on, he chewed only the things we gave him. I don't know if this works with all dogs at all times, but it might be worth a try.
How did the Durian seeds affect Banana? I would have thought they must be toxic!

Haha thank you for your advice. When she was new to the house she started nimbling on the chair, door, table and almost any furniture made of food. The chewing habit stopped by itself, fortunately.
Durian seeds are the size of...your whole thumb (estimation) and she just swallowed the whole thing! Have you tried Durian before? It's only available in tropical countries. Some people don't like it's smell though. During the Durian season my father visits the jungle to pick durians.

Hmm, Durian is really an aquired taste, I never got used to it. But in many South-East Asian countries, it's a fruit that's highly valued, but I don't have to tell you that.
That Banana stopped chewing things after a while is a very good sign. It means she doesn't feel bored and knows that she is part of the family - the most important thing for a dog. Once they feel part of the family, they feel happy. And make us happy too.

Well, so far the only edible thing I know of that's poisonous is chocolate and when consumed in high amounts it causes death. There was one time when a knife was found inside the stomach of a dog after an x-ray.
