She’s been called Inis Fáil, the isle of Destiny.
She’s been called Scotia, Hybernia, Éire, Ireland.
The lives of Gods and men danced within Her.
The power of the Caesars never touched Her.
The wisdom of the World was salvaged in Her.
Then, for many dark, cruel, long centuries,
she suffered for the greed of Norse Men and Normans,
and was ravaged, invaded, plundered, abused and raped.
Her liberation called for yet more needless spilling of blood.
And yet, today, strong she stands. Resilient and proud, she refuses to give in. A thriving, pulsing Spirit keeps the ancient ways of her people alive, no matter what the World decides to throw at Her. No matter how obscure the Times, in her remains a playful, gentle jolliness, a Light that resists to be snuffed out. Within Her, even the most crippling Darkness can still give way to intense, soul-changing beauty.
She’s a survivor.
