I tried doing the equivalent of that un a sci-fi campaign, sending level 2 playes in fighters to fight a military cruiser of a doglike alien species.
They left it half dead with 2 strafing runs from anti fighter weapons, then boarded it.
Once on board they proceeded to wreck havoc and kill a group of creatures members in a cramped corridor skirmish, stormed the bridge and engine room. Tried sabotaging the ship to self destruct and failing, managed to convince the captain that they actually had managed to do so and had a drawn out fight against a group of poor engineers who sadly were better marksman than them
After capturing it one of them (the captain of their ship) said something so stupid to the captain that she stole his plasma pistol and tried to commit suicide, only to be saved by the groups mechanic (the doctor was afk) and then he managed to talk her out of it, seduce her, and convince her that fascism wasn't that great
They then had a sudden moral epiphany and decided to drop of the crew on a nearby mining colony to find work, except for the captain who stayed with the party, giving them a skilled captain with military training and leading to countless jokes about that party member getting all the bitches (dog puns ftw)

Every adventure ends in a rufugee crisis as they try and safely reintegrate their victims, ironically they're all neutral or good but have no issue in taking shady government contracts or promoting insurgents, but it's a fairly cosmopolitan government and the insurgents were Communist so I guess it balanced out

And while they all die one by one, the quest itself will take YEARS to finish with no end in sight. But all the people in the quest will be dead so no one will be around to complain or wonder why it's still going.
