The following Characters of Middle Earth are request from fellow DA'ers. I needed a small break from bean for a week and so I have decided to draw a few request dealing with the world of middle earth and my interpretation of them, which are based more on the books than the movies.

artist notes
Theodens general of the mark after the death of his son. IT was erkenbrand that rode with gandalf in the rescue of those besieged at helms deep. He carried a black horn and red shield.

It's always great to see lesser known Tolkien characters. And Erkenbrand is certainly often unjustly forgotten!

very nice, Trav. An overlooked character for his role @ Helm's Deep. I like the solid build here, very "Rider of Rohan."

Utter coolness. He was one of my favorite unnoticed characters--it takes a GENERAL to keep a beaten army together, effective, and get it into the fight again.

Very much so. What's nice is how wonderful a job you did without the movie or any of the older illustrations to guide you--you went your own, good way.

it was a lot of fun- giving it my own spiel- i used the books and went from there now there might be some visual reference but i really tried to make them my own

You succeeded. It would be wonderful to do an edition of LOTR with your illustrations 'illuminated' into the text, like a beautiful old manuscript. The later ones are all good, consistently unique and yours.
