This is very cute! Maybe it's your film student intuition, maybe it's what you've been doing with Tokyo Tales, but you really do have a knack for making stories out of anything!

I do not know why, but this makes me think of what we talked about with Silvia and her skydiving school. Maybe it's the cute backpacks they've got on, I dunno.

Aw thank you, you are really my good audience :3. Yeah, I like to let people imagine what the story behind of this pic.

Although there are no parachutes inside those packs, they're just normal backpacks, but it's interesting that Silvia's story comes to your mind.

Once again, you're welcome! :3

Like I said, it's a bit of a mystery. If I had to pin it down, I could point to the general mood of the pic, but that wouldn't be a precise answer. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to these kids making a cameo or full appearance as Silvia's friends at that school--maybe as some of the only friends she has beyond the supportive faculty.

That and, well, cartoon logic would dictate that they would have little improvised parachutes in there too, maybe. These kids might have some crazy back-up plan, after all, in case this one meets difficulties.

Ah, I think I know what your idea now. Making these kids cameo in Sky Howlers stories, right? That's cool. I think you guess this building as a school.

Ooh cute. Yeah, bedsheet or umberlla also could becom an improvised parachute :3

Yep! Well, not this building in particular--I actually kind of figured it could be an orphanage or a foster home at first glance. But I do think they'd fit pretty well in that universe; they seem pretty well-designed!

I was actually thinking of the bedsheets in particular, yeah. Could be taken from the big comforters on their beds, themed on their favorite cartoons, or, indeed, the leftover blankets from their escape; baby blue for the boy, soft pink for the girl. (I do think basing their parachutes on their comforters in particular would make for more complicated and perhaps cuter 'canopy' designs--like, say, the boy might have a Blue Cat-themed parachute, the girl might have something based on Hello Kitty or some other girl-marketed cartoon, heck even My Little Pony could work for her, and make it so they look thicker and thus harder to potentially escape from--but I recognize that the blankets might be easier to work with, so I'm giving both options here.) Heck, maybe they could be like miniature versions of the parachute Eeyore was equipped with in Things That Go Piglet in the Night, although that doesn't exactly fit the degree of 'improvised' I'm talking about here. They could fashion ripcords from strands of string and wire, and attach them to a zipper where the parachute's kept, so they can use them easily if required. It'd be dangerous but they may not have much choice in the matter anyway.

This building is an old historical mansion of a rich Chen family in Taipei, it called Chen Tian-Lai's Residence if you interested. But yeah, it's very fitting for an orphanage or a foster home scenario --- Kinda scary and inhuman place for orphans, just like the plot of Oliver Twist, no wonder these two wanna to plan escape! I didn't design them very detail, but I'm glad you like them. Wouldn't mind to throw them into Sky Howlers universe.

Lol, it's cute! That's Blue Cat is this one in your mind?:   well, he isn't a popular character more than Hello Kitty or My Little Pony, but I could see where you got inspired; And I'm kinda surprised that you mentioned Things That Go Piglet in the Night. This is a weird episode to me because Eeyore acutally got a modern design parachute there. I don't think they don't have place to produce this one in Hundred Acre Wood... Ah, never mind, sure, they could have that one design!

Hmm! That's a very interesting story indeed. Not sure who the Chen are, but what I've read of that article seems to fall in line with what I remember was going on in the Republic period. It'd make pretty darn good sense if this place ended up being used for such purposes.

I've been thinking these kids might be Silvia's friends at that school--both equipped with parachutes in relatively similar states of disrepair to her own, if not maybe slightly better off than her rainbow 'chute so that Silvia still stands out as both a bullying target and student in need of accomodation, like her extra reserve chute in case her actual reserve chute fails for some reason. They'd be people who she can practice parachute maintenance with, instead of just having to teach herself. Maybe they call each other the Patch-Ups or something cute like that. But we don't have to develop them that much if you don't want to; like you said, you didn't design them in great detail, but they do look nice for their hastily-drawn-in nature.

True. I was looking more at Asian anthro characters when I thought of Blue Cat; there might've been some bedspreads made out of the guy over the years, which is where the 'comforter parachute' idea comes from. Heck, it's why I suggested My Little Pony and Hello Kitty-themed 'parachutes' for the girl; I just know there've been bedspreads made out of those. The boy might have a Blue Cat-themed parachute, by that logic, but maybe he could have one based on Sonic the Hedgehog, or something else; I can't really think of much else that'd fit.

Things That Go Piglet in the Night is where I got the idea for how Silvia's rainbow 'chute would look before restoration--and, funnily enough, it was the first 'parachute in tree' thing I ever saw. In fact, I'm sure of it; it's a fun one, too. I think you might be mistaken on the canopy Eeyore uses in that episode, since you brought it up; it's not a parachute in the manufactured sense, but an improvised canopy that looks like it was made out of whatever Tigger had on hand. Notice how the parachute also happens to be Eeyore's 'parachute pack' itself, since it disappears from his back when it opens, and how it's literally opened using a rope rather than an actual ripcord, even though Tigger says otherwise--the parachute is even held to Eeyore's back by rope. It's completely improvisial--which is why I say they may not fit what I was going for there when I said they could make their own parachutes and stuff them in their backpacks. They'd use what's at hand in their bedrooms for the canopy, not just make their 'chutes from scratch--after all, they may not have to use their 'chutes, and so if they do, well, at least they'd look nice doing it as they fumble around on the sidewalk, looking for their ways out--and giving 'anonymous statements' to the police officers they hopefully managed to call to the scene before they jumped, of course.
