john lindsay was the mayor of nyc from 1966 to 1973, and was quite a controversial figure: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lin…i was too young to understand the politics at the time, but there was a street near me in queens that would flood with every heavy rain. we called it "lindsay lake."
