Description OK what compelled me to do this? recently had a giveaway of sorts for critiquing his work, and m last critique was of this image .

fter reading the description I knew somewhere down the line I had to look up this Golden Age classic, and as usual it was wikipedia that filled me in on a number of historical notes on this character. The image they supplied [link] is pretty much what I wanted to work with. The model is of course me, nd minus the lighting choice...I think I nailed it pretty darn close. I like the star spangled leggings.

Will there be a Heroine Prime Yankee Girl? It could happen, so I'm inducting her as one of those once upon the time classic characters that was dropped. Just not sure what folder I'll make for this category.

It seems only fair that I offer a critique on your representation of Yankee Girl. I like it! The costume, with allowance for your addition of the star-spangled leggings, is accurate and cleanly executed. The belt in particular looks good and is consistent with some past character depictions. The pose, while not the most original, is strong and one senses, without any extrinsic evidence, that she is a power heroine, which she is. Of course, some of the originality of the image is re-couped simply by doing an image of a superheroine who is relatively rarely depicted. The Veronica Lake-like hairstyle evokes the time period of the character's origin and helps give her a classic feel.

Detracting from the overall image somewhat, the skintones and the sheen on the leggings and suit are a bit much, giving a plastic or latex feel rather than flesh and cloth. With the skin tone, perhaps it's glistening with sweat, but that wouldn't necessarily be consistent with the well-coifed hair. Also, something about the lower face distracts from my viewing of the whole. Perhaps the lips are too bee-stung or pursed looking for my taste or the cheeks too sunken, or either would be okay, but not in combination. The result is, in my opinion, that the lower face doesn't project the same "fierce" quality as the upper face eyes and brow expression. However, those subjective concerns don't diminish significantly the overall quality of the work which I feel is well above average.

Yeah I realized I made 3 errors after the fact. I was suppose to change her skin tone, and forgot. The gloss on the catsuit which also I forgot. And dummy here went with stock lighting.

Very faithful to the original
You're a great Yankee Girl. I really love those leggings too.
Maybe a folder for retired Heroines. They're been quite a few through out the years

Have you noticed my attempt to make a SuperHeroine: [link]

Finally, a reason to love the NY Yankees.

Great recreation of the famed AC Comic heroine.
