Soemthing I threw at my Wrath and Glory party.
Most of the things I make I don't really have the time to flesh out as well, so I try to stick to designs closer to thumbnails when making certain creatures.

The Dark Eldar are described as being twisted and sadistic with a tendency to do some of the worst things imaginable. Very little scares them due to all the things they do to others, except for maybe the Mandrakes.
However, Mandrakes tend to be portrayed as simply Shadow people, and while they can literally teleport anywhere in the galaxy so long as it has a shadow and drag you away, they always seemed sort of lacking.
These were Eldar, but something twisted them, and that something made their own kin fear them greatly despite working with them.
I leaned into making them more akin to a creature out of the Mandela Catalogue, something more uncanny that may once have been Eldar but not anymore.
And that lead to the idea of more than just mercenary grunt type Mandrakes, what if there were specialists among them, Mandrakes with unique gifts or skilled enough to stand out among the others.

The Brute is something I highly leaned into making monstrous, a type of shock troop that is strong enough to go toe-to-toe with space marines.
It has forsaken any remnant of its Eldar life to become a violent monstrosity. I based the hand mutations off of the old Mandrake's gauntlet weapons they had way back in the earlier editions of 40k.
