Sorry, these were from a trip to the zoo I had last year. No other pics of the lizard.

It's a sandfish, couldn't tell you species. One of the few reptiles that can be housed on sand - they're specifically adapted to live in loose sand and don't survive well in captivity without it. (Could be wrong though, face looks weird, any better photos?)

Snout looks a bit blunt- possibly Eumeces schneideri?

Yes it's possible. On second look I did think the head was wrong, and it definitely looks like it could be a Schneider's.
