It's truly an amazing sculpt. Mine should be here -hopefully- any day soon, and I'm already gathering all the required pieces (tattoo included) to complete the figure.

I've always meant to do a piece specifically as a time-lapse video of how I work, but I'm always so busy trying to stay on top of my work schedule, I never seem to have time to do it.
I'm happy to help anyone who wants to know how to start in sculpture...basically, you just need to start playing around. The good news is, there is no right way, only whatever is right for you. You have to discover what you like. For sculpting humans, you want to have a good basic understanding of anatomy...in fact, knowing anatomy helps in any figureal sculpture...It gives the work confidence and learning anatomy trains your eye to be more observant.
The actual sculpting work itself can be done any number of ways. I usually recommend getting a block of Super Sculpey to start playing around. You can bake your final sculpture solid when you're done, and it's a relatively inexpensive medium. It's best to use some aluminum armature wire to support your piece...or if you just want to start with a bust, you can start out with some tin-foil forms to build the clay over and support your sculpture.
I work in wax to make pieces like this, but some people do not like working in wax. I like it for its control and because making small work in soft clays is hard. Softer mediums are best for larger works.

Hey! I use a wax that's not as soft as something like bee's wax. The hardness gives you a lot of control in detailing and sanding. Here's a link to it:
