So, this is a common occurrence: the doorbell rings, I open the door, and the person standing at the door stands like a deer in the headlights, perhaps blinded by my blonde hair, or SOMETHING. and then, as though nothing happened, they start talking. (you'd think they'd read the name tag on the door and be all "HEY IT'S NOT A JAPANESE NAME, NOT EVEN WRITTEN IN JAPANESE I WONDER IF THEY'RE NOT FROM AROUND HERE" but noooo ^_^;;;This lady was particularly hilarious, she actually paused for a goooood long time, and then her oh HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII was kind of like a "oh a FOOOOREIGNER!" it made me laugh afterwards. We had a lovely conversation, but the first moment I felt needed to be chronicled ^_^

Heheh. Yep, especially if you go to one of the less touristy cities. In Nagasaki, my friend (who is Japanese and blends in, unlike me with bushy blondish hair) kept laughing and telling me that people were staring at me. Especially when we ordered pizza and ad I went to greet the delivery guy at the door. Heheh

Oh yes, for sure. I live in a smaller city, but even on the way up to Nagoya on the train, I get a lot of stares. I'm usually the only foreigner on the train ^_^;;

That happened to me once, a guy at school who was a chinese transfere student started asking me something in chinese becuase he thought i was chinese too, and when I said I could understand him he just stared at me for like 10min then said "Ooh, you are American"

Yeah... if I remember correctly... thats the 50th time someone did that, I was mistaken for him that day too, aperently no one told the new Aid that the newbie was a boy
