Airforces of modern military forces across the globe fear straying into INSIDER air defense sectors. Primarily due to the X-ADPD-44 Annilator system. Experimental Air Defense Point Defense...this system is unique in comparison to the normal air defense systems based on the Gattling Gun or Mini-Gun or Hotchkiss Rotary Cannon. The system has two unique belt feed systems. Allowing a single gun to be switched between ammunition types in combat..or in a really crazy situation...alternate between two types of ammo while firing! The system is divided between two main variants and a naval version. All X-ADPD-44 systems can be manned meaning that it is much harder to compromise than other air defense systems which are either completely manned or completed automated.

The Mk I. Is usually based in special emplacements at ground level...in or around an INSIDER bases. The weapon fires usually solid kinetic shells, high explosive semi-armor piercing, or a special "shotgun" canister shell. Also a specialized flechette shell is available. The rate of fire is about equal to modern Gattling and Mini-Guns with about variable fire rate between 2,000rpm to about 6,000rpm. Although with the Shotgun shell...the rate of fire ups to about 80,000rpm to 240,000rpm. [counting invidual projectiles.] Practically vaporizing anything that gets caught in its field of fire.

The Mk II. is usually found based in raised in tall tower emplacements within a base. Their rate of fire is slower, but the destructive potential is greater...since they fire larger shells and flak shells. One Mk II can fire a wall of flak equal to a brigade of flak cannons.

The Sea Annilator is used by INSIDER naval forces...and gives their ships incredibly lethal air defense and anti-missile capacity.

These air defense systems are so good that even mortars and homemade rockets can not penetrate their defense. Even human wave attacks against such a defensive position is paramount to suicide. As a group of terrorists trying to force their way into a small INSIDER outpost equipped with just two X-ADPD-44 Mk I. units. The "whiff of grapeshot" was overkill for such attackers. The wasn't even a red smear left...just divets in the ground where repeated rapid shell fire had wiped everything clean. The two units were nicknamed Heaven's Express and Sir Dry Cleaning prospectively.
