Nice! This pic looks great!
But, how would she... y'know?

Well, unless you're a fellow centaur, she's just inviting you to play around. At most you'd maybe exchange a good back rub or whatever else...

I wonder if being beckoned by a maiden in your story is truly being enticed. Given the nature of the females to simply take what they want I can't help but think that being beckoned is just her being polite while the truth of the situation is you're going to be going with her. So you can either play along and take her courtesy for what it is or you can risk ruffling feathers.
Just a quick question. How strong is a centaur's upper body? Could a centaur do a pullup?

Doesn't that mean a centaur has to be worried about seriously injuring their upper body due to their own weight?

I'm afraid I don't really follow... There's no really reason for a centaur to worry about that, because I can't think of any good reason for themselves to put themselves into a situation where their bulk could hurt them. Doing a pull-up or a handstand has no intrinsic value, and it wouldn't feel fun to do because it would be so hard/awkward... I suppose falling the wrong way could hurt them, but falling wrong can always hurt, and is already something horses have to watch out for so...

Think about the positioning of a horse's head as compared to the positioning of a centaur's head and upper body. The centaur's head is up higher and there is the extra weight of the human body. I realize that it's a relatively small change in mass however even a small change in mass can influence the position of the center of gravity and the nature of a fall. Also consider the structure of the head as well. A human head isn't built like a horse's head which has been adapted to be attached to a large fast moving animal.
Also factor in the influence of leverage namely that torque is equal to force times distance. If you triple the distance from the center of gravity you triple the torque with which the head will strike the ground.
Due to the difference in the structure of a human head, the increased elevation and possibly the center of gravity change I'm fairly certain a centaur would do worse in a fall then a horse.

Well, yeah, then a fall is especially dangerous for a centaur. That fits right in with my general philosophy of not giving anyone special powers without some sort of corresponding weakness or limitations.
As for different balances...Then either the taurs can't run quite as fast as a regular horse (see above) or they are conditioned sinse birth to deal with those stresses. But even then, I don't see that conditioning as affecting anything else to any notable degree...

Well another consideration that I believe would be a factor from a mechanics stand point is weapons and armor. Whenever a knight rides a horse he is not setting on the horse's head. Rather one attempts to position the load so that it's on top of the horse's center of gravity. Now this once again relates to the fact that a moment is a force times a displacements. By having the force or greatest force of the load go through the center of gravity the moments throughout the horses body are diminished and it puts less strait on the animal.
A Centaur on the other hand doesn't have that option. They can't reposition their upper body so that the force is going through their center of gravity. This means an armored centaur would have far more of a mechanical burden to deal with then say a war horse with a fully armored knight riding atop it. As that knight is positioned to diminish the moments he's applying to the animal.
