((Typed this up late and while busy with something, so not all thoughts are clear, but I wanted to post it regardless for now to see response.))
So I thought I try my luck in designing a weapon in a sci-fi kind of manner, the only problem was that I was having trouble conceiving how to go about it. In the end I decided to go with the Star Wars method of taking some guns that already existed and modifier them in one way or another, and with some help from friends deciding on which gun I want with the Mosin-Nigrent.
Personnally I wish there was more I could do to give it that sci-fi feel, but I am happy with how it turned out and I think I achieved it in some manner. Its not distant sci-fi futuristic, but I think it gets the feeling. I did take a little inspiration from Starfinder for the name. I will say, quite a challenge to do so with some of the older historical guns if you ask me. I may try this again with another gun, and perhaps try to make up some manufacturing names in the future when I can, unless those viewing it want to see more.
For now I am going to leave behind some small details that I had a little help with, and if I can remembering, and please remember and know this, I am not a expert on guns and can only do so much. I will greatly appreciate on advise or perspectives of more gun enthusiast people within reason.
Kinetic Semi Bolt Action Rifle - Mark 3
Despite the bolt action aspect, the rifle relies on a more M1 Grand style of method to some degree, as the bolt is used to lock the ammo cartridge in place. In this manner the gun scarifies some of the stopping power of more dedication manual bolt action rifles. The rifle uses projectile, or kinetic, based rounds, giving it some advantage over certain shields, and with the lower, but close, stopping power of bolt action rifles, maintain its ability to pierce more armor opponents. Despite its greater fire rate, it is also still its greatest weakness, especially compare to semi and automatic guns, with the additional set back of a slightly reduce range.
