ahh so you're doing all your work on photoshop! i see...i was like shit, why is this person asking for tips??
yeah once you start working with the spraypaint and cutting the stencil, things get a little tricky. You've gotta find your preferred cutting medium that will be the stencil. I've tried posterboard, not too much cardboard, a lot of clear plastic folders bc it's easy to trace an image with them.
then, what i plan on doing is getting some sort of projector like device.That way, these clear folder things i'm using can be projected onto the wall so that I can start changing the size of my stencils; i can start making life-size stencils or various sized butterflies, sillhouettes etcetcetcetc...
stenciling can be really awesome. as an artist, if you like digital and use photoshop or something, because you like the ability to easily change reproduce and manipulate complex art that would take hours to paint, then stenciling is the next best thing when working in the real world.
you can throw together complex works in notime if you have all the pieces of the puzzle.
