From sunny California to New York City, in flophouses, theaters and high-end offices, bedbugs are popping up in droves although, these days, they're found in a lot more places than just your bed.
In New York City, the irascible little critters have forced temporary closures of a Times Square movie theater as well as tony retail chains Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria's Secret. They've moved into the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office, not to mention the rarefied halls of Elle magazine. Bedbug complaints from city residents have soared from just over 500 in 2004 to 10,000 in 2009, according to news reports.

After Katrina, New Mexico became home to the Big Easy's flying cockroaches. Time will tell if they can thrive in this dry place. Bastards will fly right at your face. A good offense being the best defense.

Yikes...I have been to Orlean's pre-Katrina a few times...but I don't recall those bugs but then I don't recall much because of the drunken stupor I was in the whole time there

You'd remember if one flew into yr face! I went through there once, ever.(pre-Katrina) I didn't see any of those buggy-wugs, but I've read about them. My son was with me and he was about 7 or 8 yrs old. We had some fantastic jambalaya.

Very wise choice. I heard they only come out in the dark though.

I didn't know ny had such a problem. I hate seeing those news shows which highlight something like bedbugs or any other thing you'd rather not think about, then it makes you think about them, blah!

The way the color jumps off the billboard, the words look Photoshopped on.
The bright red, green, and white on the billboard contrast the desolate, almost abandoned looking buildings in the background.
The building on the right looks kinda familiar. I think I've seen it before.
