Description This is "#11. Memory" for the 100 Theme Challenge. 98 more to go.

Ahhh, man, this thing gave me Hell! Firstly, as a rule of thumb, I am never laying an idea on fire ever again. Secondly, I am never creating an ancient as rock character ever again.

However. I am proud as **** of this thing! I love the shading on the Seer. I love how deep the shadows are, and somehow, he looks like a menacing bada**. Even though he's so old he probably couldn't walk at .1 MPH. ._.

Anyhoo. I hope you like this, AND I AM SHAMELESSLY PROMOTING THIS AS SOMETHING I DO SELL AS A COMMISSION.

SO THINK ABOUT IT.

I was inspired by Tarja Turunen's "The Seer"

This is such an amazing picture! It was clearly well thought out and you put a lot of effort into it. The Seer, for starters, is absolutely amazing! The anatomy's great, he really DOES look ancient, And the fire surrounding is very detailed, yet soft enough that it doesn't completely overwhelm the scene. The background is just plain amazing, and I love the shading! The shadows stand out so much against the light of the fire, I just love the intensity of it!

What I don't really get is the yellow trails over the fire. Are they supposed to be sparks? If so, they shouldn't be so long and big. They should just be specks or streaks.

Overall, this picture is really great and I love almost everything about it.

Yes, the trails actually were supposed to be sparks, but I ended up getting lazy with it around 11:34 PM when I could barely hold my eyes open.

Thank you so much for the critique. <333 I appreciate it!

UGH. SAME HERE. I always try to finish my work before I get too tired to keep my eyes open. That or I start on an entire practice at like, 1:00 in the morning when I've just woken up and I "feel" refreshed.

...I LOVE THAT PLZ. O:

This is now my second favorite piece of yours. With Passion and Space coming in first.
I absolutely adore the shading, it makes everything look intense. I think the only thing you could've done to make it better would be to have the Seer's eyes stand out a bit more against the fire. Other than that, the background is amazing, the anatomy is awesome, and the anatomy of the Seer itself is almost perfect. Now I would post a full critique but first of all, I can't, and second of all, I don't see anything wrong with this that's worth critiquing.
Keep amazing me with your art, sis. <3

Haha, I love Passion and Space, too.
Thank you, sis! Actually, the Seer's eyes were super intense when it was all flat and there weren't a crap-load of blending layers over it. As soon as I put gradients and all kinds of other sh*t on it, his eyes got a little duller. I didn't really know how to fix it, but trust me, I see what you're saying. To the tutorials I go!

Thank you! That background gave me SO many problems, I was going to totally get rid of it. Then I broke out my tea and cookies. Then I was better. LOL.
Will do, sis. <333
