You do know this isn't how transitioning works right? What you are does not affect what you like in others. Unless this funny feeling Dash has is a physical one... But you make it sound like she's only attracted to AJ now that she's a guy. Only 12 strips in and you've made things feel awkward now, that you don't know much about trans people. Hope this gets clarified and fixed later on.

This is really old comment to reply to, and I apologize, but I ignored my good judgement because I wanted to say this so badly.
It's entirely possible that the 'funny feeling' he's referring to comes from a drastically increased sex drive. That's more what it sounds like to me; not that he's suddenly attracted to her now, but more that he's much moreΒ attracted to her than before because of the new hormones. You take somepony with no testosterone and tell them not to get flustered by a pretty mare or dwell on the possibility of kissing her, they're going to have a much easier time than somepony who's suddenly full of the stuff (I don't speak from personal experience, mind; I speak from other people's anecdotes).
Besides, though it's not common, some trans guys have said that their attractions broadened after going on testosterone; personally, my theory is that decreased dysphoria leads to greater awareness and connection with feelings of attraction in some people. I know I had trouble forming attachments back before I was doing anything to help myself; now that I'm a little more comfortable with my own identity, I finally feel more intimate with people and more attracted to others.

So rather than simply have pre-existing romantic feelings it seems that it's starting with Dash finding Applejack attractive as a result of now being physically male. That's a pretty interesting angle to play since he seems to be trying to avoid this because he thinks of AJ as his best friend and....OH GOD THIS AWKWARD! WHY DO I FIND HER SOOOOOOO HOT NOW? AAAUUUUGGGHHHH! WHY DOES MY TUMMY FEEL FUNNY?
If this ends up with Dash getting increasingly conflicted and confused over his feelings for AJ I'll totally be hooked.
