This is it, my latest incarnation of the map of Teladia, the continent from which my novel is based on. Compared to the previous version (found here ), this is quite different. Beyond the obvious (colors, satellite view, font change, etc), there have been multiple changes.

1. Expanded size: The continent itself is slightly bigger. I expanded the image by 400 pixels (approx 10%) horizontally in order to create more space for the Deep West on the left.

2. Shifted landmarks: As the novel progressed, it became clear to me that the Deep West needed to be bigger. Previously, it had been a little split of land that was pretty much insignificant. That won't do, not at all, because one of the major antagonists of later novels will be from there. I shrank the central part by about a third and probably quadrupled the Deep West. I also shrank the East a bit.

3. Many, many more cities and landmarks: With the change in font, I was able to add a LOT more. Most will probably never have a mention in the novels themselves, but I believe in being thorough so there they are.

4. New provincial borders: Throughout the novel, I mention various provinces and realms. Because of the size of the Eastern empires, they are sub-divided into multiple states. As they conquer a new nation, that nation becomes a new province (I did not include any kingdom or nation as being occupied).

5. Capitals indicated: I used highlights to indicate the various capitals from the "Greats" (which are the capitals of the "Big Four" powers in the world and will play a significant part as time goes on) down to the national and provincial capitals.

That is about all I can think of that are major changes. There are tons of small ones as I had to move a few things around in accordance to the shift mentioned in the second point.

A note: before people start complaining at how odd the Escand Desert looks and how abrupt the terrain change was, I KNOW!!! There is a very, very specific reason for that and part of that is explained in Chapter 24 of the first novel.

Anyway, I know I haven't been posting much of my novel itself. In truth, while I have posted only 4 chapters here, I have completed over 40 for a total of over 275,000 words (and adding more and more all the time). I didn't continue to post them here because it didn't seem to get any interest. If there IS some interest generated by this map, I am more than willing to start posting more chapters.

Credits:
For the terrain icons, I used the Sketchy Cartography Brushes by ~StarRaven , a most useful set of brushes that is really awesome.

For the extremely cool and useful terrain backgrounds, I used the Map Texture Pack by ~coyotemax , without which I would not have been able to produce this map.

This map was done entirely on the GIMP, a free piece of software that is well worth it for anyone who isn't rich enough to afford something like Adobe Photoshop.

Finally I am not the only one I know of who does maps! I find it is more helpful than anything when trying to write, don't you?

Definitely. Most of the time I am writing, this is up in the background so I can reference it for locations and distances.

This is pretty cool! Wish I had the skills to do something like this for my novel -.- Hey, if you're putting your stories up here on deviantART, could I recommend a website that's based solely on books/literature? It's called Wattpad You should check it out

I will indeed. I don't quite want to put the entire novel up as I am intending on publishing it, but I was wanting some feedback for the rough drafts.

Nothing was hand drawn here, the mountains and trees and hills were from a brush set. I could have hand drawn stuff, but I don't have a good enough scanner to get it into digital format with sufficient clarity.
