That's a lot of kelp! The seals in New Zealand have to rest their butts on bare rock

Yes I remember having seen some on beaches only made of rock in south island, we even went to see them, we were at 3 meter of them and we understood quite well the meaning of 'having a breath seal'

Thank you, yes. I am in the North Island but most of my family are in Christchurch, & they are all okay. A fair bit of damage to buildings and materials though. Thank you
