Description Giant Crat
Size: 70cm in length
Diet: Small to medium-sized animals, occasionally fruit and nuts.
Description: Native to the smaller of the two main islands, lives the the Giant Crat (Cattorattus gigas), the largest of the several Crat species found on both islands. Crats, like their close relatives, the Pseudogs, hunt in packs; but unlike them, their packs extend further than their mate and offspring. The giant crat may hunt in groups of up to a dozen, usually enough to overwhelm even the toughest of prey. Because of this coordinated group hunting, giant crats are one of the smaller island's top predators (at least, in the jungle areas it prowls, where the dense foliage restricts most larger predators). Females only have one offspring every year to keep their population down. Unlike other Sparassodonts, they may sometimes eat fruits and nuts when prey is scarce. There are 4 species of crat, most grow only a foot or so in length (primarily as they usually live on the smaller islands where resources are much less).
