Description Spinosaurus aegyptiacus is a spinosaurine spinosaur that lived in North Africa during Late Cretaceous 99-93.5 million years ago. It was the longest theropod dinosaur ever known, although Tyrannosaurus rex is heavier in weight. Despite less heavy compared Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus was denser in body density thanks to its high bone density. This heavy bone density helped Spinosaurus to be able to dive for various purposes from chasing after prey to escape other theropod dinosaurs. Spinosaurus was one of theropod dinosaurs that lived in highly competitive ecosystems of Kem Kem and Bahariya Formation, leading extreme specialization for semiaquatic movements in order to exploit a niche that other theropod dinosaurs hadn't exploit yet. It was debated whether Spinosaurus was a chaser or a wader like Suchomimus and Baryonyx, but a research from 2022 showed that both Spinosaurus and Baryonyx were divers.
