Description
A month or two had passed since Aleuri and Midas had begun to date. Midas began to like Aleuri the same way she liked him. His uncertainty had faded and the two were almost inseparable. Villa and Tibias had also started to get closer and it left Ruby often stuck babysitting Lakino. One lazy afternoon, the summer heat was getting to most of the pride. Ruby lay in the shade of a tree, napping and so relaxed she could care less about anything. Lakino however was bored, wondering where Midas and Tibias were. He began to sigh loudly and groan hoping to wake Ruby. His continuous whining got to Ruby and she immediately sat up. "What is it?!" she drowsily snapped. "I'm bored! Can't we go out for a walk or something? Or even find Midas...?" Ruby rolled her eyes. "You wake me up for that? Just go at the edges of the hangout where I can see you or something." She lay back down and turned away to return to her nap. Lakino sighed once more and bounded off far beyond his boundaries. He trotted through the tall grass, barely the same height. He could hear giggling which he recognized to be Aleuri's. His frown forming into a smile he ran towards the source and spotted Aleuri and Midas playing like two cubs. After tackling him, Aleuri began to nuzzle him, taking in his scent as he took in hers and returned the nuzzle. Making a gag sound, Lakino rolled his eyes and wrinkled his nose with disgust. He walked off hoping to find something interesting to do, and wasn't getting anywhere. Finding a large rock nearby, he lay in the shade. He stared out into the territory with a sigh. He couldn't wait until he was big enough to see all of it, he'd be strong enough to go on patrols and fight off other lions. Suddenly, the hair on the back of his neck rose and he felt oddly watched. He looked around cautiously as if on instinct he could feel the presence of someone else. Sniffing the air he could taste the scent of something out of the ordinary but couldn't put his paw on it if it was another animal. Gazing around his surroundings again, he noticed the dark tail tip of an animal. Rising onto his heels, he got into a fighting crouch. "Wh-who's there?" He stammered trying to sound brave. What if it was a boar? Or a hippo? Maybe even an antelope? He had never seen any of those animals but his heart was racing. The animal began to move forward and he nearly jumped out of his pelt when it rose it's head and he realized how close it was. He backed up almost letting out a scream but then realized... it was just a cub. The cub blinked, her bright green eyes full of curiosity. "Um, who are you?" He asked with a mixture of confusion and feeling dumbfounded for being scared. "I'm surprised you finally saw me, I had been following you for a little bit. I didn't know other lions lived around here." She quietly mumbled. "She didn't answer the question.." Lakino thought but shrugged it off. "What are you doing here? This is my pride's territory." "What's a pride? Is it those groups that just sit around all the time? My tribe is passing through and I wanted to explore." Her words poured out quickly and Lakino lay down. This cub was weird. The two conversed for a while and began to play cub games. The sun began to set and Lakino had forgotten he wasn't even supposed to be out. The cub had to go and Lakino began walking home hoping he'd get to play with her tomorrow. As he neared the pride central, he heard his mother's angry voice. "There you are! You are in so much trouble!" He turned and his ears flattened and heart sunk. After getting lectured he told his mother about the cub. "We'll look for them tomorrow." Uther had overheard the conversation and had butted in. "What if they're a threat?" Uzuri asked. "I doubt it. Tribes are often weaker than prides but still a bit stronger than rouges. They're not familiar with here either if they didn't know this was our land." "They might be rebellions from the empire." Uzuri muttered and Lakino walked off towards his den, not in the mood to listen to "adult stuff."
